The Eye Key Dragon Stars of Antarctica Artisan Keycap
There have been a few different variations of artisan caps that are styled as miniature monitors and minature keyboards, these are certainly the best looking and highest quality there is.
I just bought the artisans because I thought they looked so pretty. After getting them I regret not getting the full set, but love the only 2 I have. For 56ish bucks it was a bargain!
The keycap quality is really, really great
But what I’m disappointed about this set was that are the colour expectations for the legends. The legends shown in the renders during IC and GB, were black. I would have been accepting if it was dark gray but the legends turned out to be a vibrant Dark Blue?
Colours weren’t specified in detail during the IC but this was quite far off from my expectations.
this shade of blue doesn’t even look close to the retro look it was inspired by and limits the colour matching of this set since the blue is not really a neutral colour like what was advertised.
I’d still recommend Hammerworks keycaps as they are one of the better ones at this price point. Maybe this is just a one off thing.
photo: keycaps used are CRP Tulip by Hammerworks as well. The S, F and D key are
So close to being great but the blue color just kills the whole theming. It was basically a bait and switch. Thankfully at this point they updated the pictures (but not the renders) so you can at least get a better idea of what the actual set looks like and can make your own decision.
Well... It's CRP which is good. Keycap quality is on point. No problems with any of the caps condition or shape. CRP is a great profile to begin with but this set was executed well.
I'm a little disappointed in the colors though. I was under the impression they would be more khaki and black like the renders. Or at least beige. Nope. They're cream, with blue legends. Colors weren't revealed in the IC, which I can respect. But the renders make it look like the legends are supposed to be black and they are not even close. The cream I can live with, but I'm a little disappointed in. The vibrant blue sort of destroys the set though. It went from looking like a nice sharp vintage set to something straight out of a goofy kids cartoon. The blue legends don't look great with any of the black boards I planned to use this set on.
Still, in this day and age, I guess I should just be happy that I received a set of keycaps in a reasonable amount of time (considering the delays), and without any major problems.
CRP is expectedly great, spacebars a straight, legends are sharp, front printed subs are nice colors.
The biggest issue with the caps is how blue the legends are compared to the renders. Overall great caps though and would recommend.
Overall I am fairly pleased with the legends and the sharpness. The alpha quality is particularly cool with the side legends. Most seem to be fairly aligned and look great. My only real gripe is the number row which seems to not have gotten the same treatment. My sidelegends are all over the place. Regardless it captures the aesthetic and overall looks decent. Just dont go looking tooooo close.
