This year, Bulova is celebrating 140 years in the watchmaking business. And with the recently released Military Collection, the company pays tribute to many of its hallmarks of engineering and design throughout the years. For one, the watch utilizes Bulova's proprietary UHF (Ultra High Frequency) movement, which vibrates at 262 kilohertz: eight times faster than a standard two-prong crystal. Engineered to provide a continuous smooth-sweeping second hand, this high-performance quartz technology is both completely silent and hyper-accurate.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of color: Black dial on Green NATO strap, Black dial on Brown leather strap, or Cream dial Chronograph (+$40). This drop is limited to 55 watches.
Looking at the Military, you’ll notice its classic Bulova design. While the stationary coin-edge bezel is circular, the case beneath it is squared off at the top and bottom, bowing subtly at the sides. A slightly domed mineral crystal adds to this vintage look. Appointed with white printed hour markers, the dial features a black satin finish and slimmed-down pilot-style hands. The tip of the second hand is offset with red, as is the 60-second numeral on the outer edge. All three versions—one of which, the chronograph, features a white dial and black strap—offer a date window at the 6 o’clock position.
