I'll take this Burson amp with unbalanced output over something like a Schiit Mjolnir 2 with balanced outputs any day just because Burson is a better company that makes better quality amps with better sound. I love Burson's sound.
I should add that I spent hours demoing the McIntosh MHA100 (balanced) and the Oppo HA-1 (balanced), testing out the balanced capabilities of each, and I personally prefer the Burson Conductor Virtuoso (unbalanced) to either of those headphone amps as far as sound goes. My budget would not allow me to have any of those, so I settled on the Soloist which provides the same quality of sound for headphone listening as the Conductor Virtuoso albeit without some of those extra features. I did get the Soloist for the extra power rather than the Soloist SL. I have not actually listened to the Soloist SL so I can't compare it to the Soloist, the Conductor Virtuoso, or the other amps I have mentioned.
