This is my second in a row mass drop that is disappointing. Last was the rama spinner.
This thing is loose and janky as anything I've ever handled. I am sorry I joined the drop, and I don't think I'll both having the key cut as I don't want my most important key (seems like what this was made for) tethered on an item that feels like it may break at any time.
If I had handled this prior to purchase i would never have purchased. I've never seen a butterfly knife this poorly put together and loose, and I have a lot of really cheap ones. Really glad this does not have an actual blade inside.

offbyoneHello offbyone and kupo, My name is Joseph from ButterflyKeys. I'm sorry I couldn't not reply to your comment sooner. I'm the only person behind this product and the Kickstarter project, I'm trying my best to juggle A-Z.
There are over 800 different key blanks. The thickness of each key blank can vary from 1mm to 2.8mm. Therefore the rattle of each key depends on its thickness which is set by the manufacturer according to the lock cylinders specs.
For example, The Toyota TR47 key blank is 2.7mm thick and does not rattle in the Butterflykey, on the other hand, Classic GM vehicles using key blank GMB44 are about 1.3mm thick. Therefore there will a lot more rattle . House keys are about 2.2mm thick. Each unit is hand assembled according to key blank and color variation by me.
Most people are interested in this Butterfly Key as a novelty because of its uniqueness and fashionable appearance over traditional keys. As a creator, I set out to produce a well-rounded product which could sensibly be produced with high-quality material such as T6 Billet Aluminum and affordable at the same time.
I've concluded it may be possible to implement a solution in the next production such as placing spacer-washer to fill the gaps and eliminate rattling . Perhaps also making the latch magnetic? Please note this was the first round of production and I'm open to suggestions in making improvements which can be implemented in the overall design. Also if there is anything you do like about the item it is considered just as valuable and very much appreciated by me as a creator.
It is very important to me that people who purchase my product are happy with it. Since this item was purchased from MassDrop, I'm not exactly sure how returns will work, however, I'm willing to skip that process and accept a direct return from you and refund you myself.
I believe when Olivia was evaluating this item she was considering that it is still just a key and I apologies if it came across misleading. If you would like to return it, kindly email me at info@butterflykeys.com and I will generate an RMA.
Thank you Joseph

ButterflyKeysThanks for your reply. While I appreciate that there are over 800 key blanks, this drop was for 3 different kinds if I recall correctly? I expect that you'd make it work well with what was offered or else temper expectations accordingly.
I'll be in touch for an RMA shortly.

offbyoneSince there were some hiccups in manufacturing, my production arrived late. I had about 24 hours to assemble all orders and ship them out. At the time, I did not know the rattling would be a concern, I also had no solution for this matter to apply. Since the last few days I worked on a solution which eliminates the gap and rattle all together.

Also the tension pins used will soon be stainless steel.
Products shipped from now on will have this implementation applied. Is there anything else that made you unhappy? like mentioned before, The batch you received was from the first production and my goal is to make improvements and produce a good product.
Thank you Joseph
