Its a short hammock, but that issue is somewhat subjective. You get long-time users on HammockForums.net and they will tell you longer is better, you're able to get flatter. Personally, I found my spot at 10.5' long. At MSRP, its expensive for an 8' hammock, but a relatively good deal here.
I'd buy it for my son except that I refuse to buy a product that ignores the use of straps on trees instead of ropes. You can change it out to use straps instead, but I won't patronize a company that turns away from a very basic environmental issue. Its one of the reasons us hangers have a hard time at state parks. Hammocks with straps are more environmentally friendly than a tent. If you buy this, please change out the suspension unless you're hanging on something other than trees.
