I am Jay Shields, president at Byer and responsible for product sourcing. We have used the Keruing wood at the suggestion of the producing factory in the central highlands of Vietnam. The wood is available through an initiative of the Vietnam government to provide employment for a rural population. It is our understanding the wood is responsibly harvested under government supervision to ensure sustainability. I will visit the factory next month as we work on expanding our products from them. I take pride in the economic benefit we bring to the people of that region.

How is your Keruing wood sourced? This family of trees has been drastically harmed by over-logging.

I understand it's water resistant. But would it be unsuitable to be left outside (such as placed on a deck)?
One_Eyed_JackalYes, you just want to make sure you keep it treated like any wood product that is outdoors. Furniture, your deck, etc. Depending on where you are, the tables might require two applications of some sort of weather protection each year.
