My guess is ALO audio will struggle to meet the shipping estimate. This has to be there most solid product introduction.
We'll soon find out. Don't know if I mentioned it before over here, but since I'm a Portlander I visited ALO last year before Orion, Lyra, and Jupiter were officially released. As I spoke with Ken, I was impressed with not only the sound, fit, and build quality but also how the components were made in three different cities in Oregon that I have ties to. Some are made near my mon's house. Some are made in the town my grandparents lived in. They're assembled in Portland down the street from where my wife lived when we first started dating. That's pretty cool!
that is super cool, and I think you've boosted the confidence of people who are buying on faith alone, so thanks for your comments on the sound and build quality. I'm a space and sci-fi junkie so the theme resonated with me ('scuse the pun), and I was looking for this range of in-ears that were something different from the average plastic build.
If the drop was for 200 possible units sold, wouldn't Mass have needed confirmation from ALO that they had that number on hand? Or at least in a reasonable timeframe? I would hope so.
Not necessarily. Ken admitted on head-fi that he really only expected this drop to sell about 20 units or so. So there is a very good possibility that they weren't prepared for this. Not saying that they aren't, but there is a good possibility it could be delayed.
I'm hoping it won't be too long but am confident it'll be worth the wait. Like a lot of you, I have plenty of other IEM (including the excellent CFA Orion) to tide me over. Happy patient waiting everyone!
These are hand made products in the US. This isn't just a let's send them to production and get 1,000 made. Good quality takes time and if he needs an extra month to fill the orders I don't find that to be a big deal or even unreasonable. QC is the most important thing and rest assured Ken will fill every order and it will definitely be a quality product.
Totally agree with velvetx on this.
Hey, I'm in no hurry either. I'm just excited that I was able to get in on the drop based upon recommendations from Head-Fi. It is a good thread to keep up with. This should be an exquisite IEM, and I'm looking forward to the full audition and review whenst I get mine. Cheers all.
