That's an awfully steep discount...it's to the point where it's too much and serves as a siren song that serves as a huge caution before even thinking about buying this.
I own original Vega and Cascade. For the price, neither are very durable and I think they're overpriced. Great sound, but durability issues have put me off Campfire Audio.
TapewormI've owned the original Vega for like 3-4 years now. Haven't had an issue with it. I use it almost daily too--especially on my hour long train commutes.
I know this is a classic case of my experience vs yours but my Vega feels built like a tank, even with the plastic parts, compared to other IEM's I've used.
legaceezMine separated where the black plastic nozzle meets the metal housing. I saw other reports of this same failure in head fi. Campfire told me to mail them in (from Germany lol), so I just glued them back together myself.
Ken Ball makes garbage gear. He always has and he always will. His first company, ALO, had DAC/amp portables that were obscenely harsh sounding, which tells me that Ken has lost a lot of his upper range frequency hearing.
Drop list price is $599
Campfire Audio list price is $899
I bought from Drop because of the $300 price difference from one site to another (direct manufacturer’s pricing) for the exact same (new) product. Not sure if CFA is trying to offload overstock (seems like a reasonable assumption). I was eyeballing them since release. Getting the same product at a steep discount was a no brainer for me.
