Can these be worn cable down at all?

BjjigaeI'd like to know the same thing. Typically, I am able to wear most similarly shaped iem's straight down by swapping the ear pieces (wear left in right ear and vice versa), but you have to use a cable without memory wire. Can anyone with these try it and confirm?

Jaker782You can remove the memory wire, very carefully, with some good light, reading glasses, sharp-pointed scissors (embroidery?), and wire snippers with a flush edge.
Yes, they can be worn "cable down", but it's far from ideal.
With memory wire removed, wearing them with the cable over the ear is a total dream.

BjjigaeJust tried it (edit: wearing a cable-less Lyra II with cable side down, right side in left ear)... it feels odd: Insertion is not as deep The housing hangs at a downward sloping angle The mmx cable connector will sit directly on your ear lobe
I don't have a straight mmx so cannot say if any of that is comfortable or affects the sound.
Why do you want to wear it cable down? It's a very comfortable worn cable up.

onevstheworldHave you tried swapping the left and right sides and then wearing it cable down?

MadDadThat's what I did and that's what my comments refer to. Edited my comment to reflect that.
I don't actually have a non-memory wire mmx cable so I can't say how that'll change the feel, but based on putting the IEMs in without a cable, I'd say it'll feel worse.
Wearing it properly feels much better.

onevstheworldFinally found someone own the Lyra ii. I wonder if you think the Lyra ii is a bit over priced (at $699) compared to other lower price earphones e.g. JVC ha-fw01? I have auditioned both for a short session and found the Lyra ii gets out competed in terms of vocal.
This is what holding me back from pressing the order button. The Lyra ii has a doubled price but is not destroying the fw01 in all aspects.

AndrewabcCA Orion, ATH MSR7 and Mr Speakers Aeon Open are my other phones to give you an idea of my preferences. I agree it's mids and trebles aren't as snappy as I'd prefer, but it's bass complements my Orion well, it's more laid back, and it's my default IEM when I'm out and about. In terms of value, I think at US$499 it's definitely worthwhile (for me it was equivalent to saving AUD$400+ even with shipping costs). Full price... I probably wouldn't.
I've never heard the JVCs (and I don't think they are readily available in Oz), so cannot compare. What source did you use? Sometimes that makes a difference in the comparisons.

onevstheworldI use Spotify(320kbps) straight from my phone, oneplus 5.
I am looking for a pair of new iem because I cannot stand with my current one(ath ls70) after listening my hd6xx from the previous drop. The Lyra ii satisfy me in all aspects except the vocals. How can you get them at such a low price? I have seen second hand Lyra ii still standing with strong price.
