AldenCheangIts the same, the only difference is marketing. in the USA they are called the Rebel series in order to sell to that market audiance. TO the rest of the world they call it the 800d. its the exact same camera, save one has a cool word to appeal to Americans.

AldenCheangThis is a gray market camera which was not built to be sold in the United States. For various reasons Canon sells these cameras overseas much cheaper than in the U.S.. It's relatively simple to buy these in bulk a resell them in the U.S. as is being done here. It's exactly the same camera and you save a few hundred dollars. The catch is that they are not sold with the Canon US warranty. So if that is more important to you than the cost savings you might want to look elsewhere. Also, you can buy gray market cameras from places like newegg at a similar price point without going through the Massdrop process. But to be clear: there is nothing inferior about this camera. The absence of the US Mfg. Warranty is likely to make no difference as they are extraordinarily well made. I have used a predecessor model T3i for 8 years with no problems at all and there is every reason to believe this is just as well built.

TamashawallaI've bought gray market cameras and lenses through a few places in Hong Kong. They are essentially identical except you might get a little less case candy. Stuff like manuals, AV cables, quickstart cards etc. Also most of the lenses I get like this are 'white box' not glossy retail packaging. But all of them functioned fine. There is also an added nerd factor that you have a camera with different badging than standard US. So occasionally I would get funny looks from camera store people, or photography meetup people.
