Heyo,
So I'm excited to be able to offer more camera stuff to our community. The first drop was pretty well received and everyone seemed to want more, so here's another camera we thought might hit the spot.
What other products in this category would you like to see on Massdrop? Let us know in the discussions and polls! We're definitely taking all of your feedback into consideration. Looking forward to getting you guys some more cool stuff.

Danny_LiuBring us the Nikon D3300, imo the best entry-level DSLR for those who don't shoot video.

LQDForceI called the company on Ebay and spoke with them to get an idea what was up with the pricing and they are selling Asian imports not USA spec with warranty like Massdrop is selling.
Looks like you can get it a few bucks cheaper but if you ever have an issue with the camera and need to get it fixed that $50 savings is not going to be worth it ;-) I sell camera's too and if you are going to price compare I would compare apples to apples and compare against authorized sellers that you know are selling USA spec with warranties.

TedPhilipsPlease correct me if I'm wrong, but it does not seem like Massdrop is an authorized dealer as well. Furthermore, previous drops on Massdrop included the 600D (japanese market, T3i) and 100D (japanese market, SL1).
In any case, Massdrop's warranty is much better than some noname ebay store, that's for sure :) That's why I really want to buy it here, but it's still $100 more expensive...

LQDForceThe 600D and 100D were European stock with cards from what I recall. European stock actually has US service centers listed on the cards so those are much better than the Asian stock which I have never had luck getting fixed in the US.
I just head back from someone at Massdrop and they confirmed these are USA spec with warranty cards FYI.

LQDForce600D and 100D are European name schemes, Japan used the "Kiss" naming scheme.

LQDForceA6000 is $449 USD. I think it is a better entry level choice.

chris.ywI'm not entirely sure, it depends on a lot of things. Both are great entry level cameras and I hope we'll get to see them in a drop :)

chris.ywif you have friends that shoot Canon or Sony; that would easily tip the scales easily one way or the other.

w00mI actually tried several Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Fujifilm bodies. A6000 offers 24MP, 11 FPS and fast AF/focus following ability. Frankly I think A6000 is a brainless choice (at $449) in terms of features, which will make it a quite capable entry level camera. Of course, measurements made by DXOmark suggest A6000 has a much better sensor than T5i. But this is just cold analyzing the two products. There are other factors to consider.

chris.ywThis biggest factor to consider would be the fact that this a DSLR. Which in my opinion makes this a better choice because of the versatility. Especially when it comes to sports. I personally shoot a Cannon 70D but i started on a camera that would be considered and entry level DSLR such as this drop and absolutely loved it .

SeanLewisAutofocus is way better on a DSLR , even compared to the newest mirrorless such as the A6000. So if you shoot fast action or moving objects, a DSLR is the obvious choice.
T5i is excellent for shooting videos, especially webinars, interviews etc. There really isn't a better camera out there in this price range.
Worth every penny!

That was exactly what i was saying about. Some DSLRs are good for sports because of CDAF, which is normally faster than PDAF of mirrorless. But A6000 is a game changer. T5i only has 9 AF points and up to 5 fps continuous shooting ability, while A6000 have 11 fps burst ability and 179 phase contract AF points. You definitely should not walk into a system because of cliches. But if you already have something, that's another story. My comments are mainly for those who happen to want to buy their first "real camera" camera. I recommend people based on what they say they need. My love for any brand will not be involved at all.

LQDForcevideos weight more than a thousand word. But if you shoot jpeg or use P mode most of the time, go for Canon. Sony has a troublesome workflow.
