View Full Discussion Pretty great printer; I got my Mom one 3 years ago and it's still going strong despite how much it gets used. I've had great luck using aftermarket ink with this printer; my Mom's has always had the aftermarket ink from Blake Printing Supply on Amazon. I'm not sure how it affects photo quality, but it's been 100% reliable for way less money. Currently a full set of ink from them on Amazon sells for $14.99 with Prime shipping.
How's the picture quality with the Blake aftermarket ink? I've bought other aftermarket ink with this printer, and the picture quality on plain paper is pretty terrible. For example, orange tends to come out yellow.
I haven't done any photo printing with the Blake ink as of yet; I know for general purpose printing the quality is fine. If I ever do some photo printing on it I'll try and remember to update this post.
I haven't done much photo printing either, and on photo paper it seems to be fine. But the other day I was trying to print out large orange letters on plain paper and they came out mustard yellow instead. Not sure if that's the ink I'm using or the printer.
