Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. Sculpted-profile The majority of custom keycap sets are sculpted-profile (Cherry, SA, MT3, KAT, etc. - more on profiles generally here) so let’s start there. Because each row has a unique keycap shape, alt layouts require a unique keycap for each legend that moves off its QWERTY row. I thought about this salty kit:
"ALFRED! BRING ME A BOTTLE OF TEQUILA!"
P.s I also await your next closet drop. LOL :-p
Can we get the pricing on the spacekeys kit fixed? It passed the last drop point, but it hasn't been adjusted.
this is a matter of communications and buyers respect.
this is a know problem of massdrop and it get worst every time
this should have be done simultaneously: remove wrong warning sign, but new price and kits, leave a messege with explanations
anyway the salt kit should be free to every new warning sign kit buyers
I was joking about the salty kit...
i mean that the salty kit should be free to the people who buy the new warning signs kit
Now that everything is solved, since i'm still mad for the no pre-warning before removing the kit and we will have to pay a different price because we got no notice before the change, may we have at least that dope Salty kit!?!? It is too late to return on your steps @T0mb3ry, you showed us the salty kit, mistakes were made, giff salty kit
and anyway you could use any words when talking about this drop except loss
I don't think they switched the price to contain the loss, I think they switched the price to a fair market price as soon as Yanbo was back. They could have told everyone who bought the kit at the original price that they would need to pay more (this wouldn't have upset me too much, and in fact I sort of expected this would happen and was prepared to pay more). Instead, they fixed the price but ate the loss for everyone who was already in.
Anyway, I definitely agree MD should learn from this. But, I suspect the main thing they have learned is to have someone doublecheck prices before posting. Anyone familiar with SA drops would have seen the warning signs kit was priced too low, which leads me to believe no one ever took a second look before posting. Ultimately, double checking these things before release would prevent anything like this from happening again
Personally i know at least 4 people (plus me) upset from this, not sure if they will really pass this drop just for this, but they may pass. What they did is not even smart for them, since these few people may pass a $200+ drop only for the drama behind this little kit. It wasn't smarter to have another small and insignificant loss of 1 day with a pre-warning but make everyone happy to join the drop? You know just to make things clear and clean for everyone, which is exactly what a million dollar company should do.
You should make these mods happen, I'm probably not alone in my wallet burning insanity.
This is a great example of what many have been reiterating here in these keycaps group buys, if you want to get the next tier pricing, commit to it early and let it pan out. Don't be on the fence and wait until everything is at it's lowest, because, whatever price you enter in is the lowest then, and it can go lower. That's it.
I for one am glad I took the plunge with all alpha and kits that I wanted/needed, *takes my popcorn* and waits for new pricing tier.
no 40%, no DC, no ISO, no NORDEUK, no ERGODOX, no PLANCK from maxkey ...
I have no problem with that, I'm now on ANSI 104 after a few excursions to a V60 and an Ergodox.
