I'm writing this review a few years after my initial purchase in March 2019. If I had reviewed it back then, I think I would have given it 4 stars. It is solidly made, as are all Cardas products, the sound is pleasant.
Reviewing it in November 2021, I would say not having detachable cables is a minus for me. It isn't absolutely necessary, but the stock cable is really unwieldy and very chonk and I buy in ear headphones for portability. In addition, I've had the chance to sample a lot of Chi-Fi over the last few years and the price point is just too high for what you get.
Extremely well-built with a high-quality cable and excellent bass are the positives of the EM5813 IEMs. Overall, the sound quality is really enjoyable.
The only negative is the weight of the solid brass housing, which I don't notice when I loop the cable over my ear. But I don't like the feeling of the cable and the temple tips on top of my ears. Fortunately, after a few minutes, I forget the weight and just enjoy the music!
These are magnificent in looks, build quality and sound.
The only gripe is with the cord. It's stiff, heavy and has a distinct microphone effect because of the fabric lining. Not an issue when staying still, but these are not meant for the street. Also because there is not much isolation. And they fall off easily.
Quite comfy, and easy & fast to insert snugly, at least when compared to Etymotics. Etys are my choice when commuting or doing sports / chores. But these bad boys are my choice when working. Great IEM's, but not for the go.
The deal was really sweet, and I just couldn't let these slip through.
Heavy with the stock cable, scales well with nicer sources
Lovely mid range presentation. An IEM for the home given the weight of the housing and the cable. Great build quality. Gave mine away but will buy them again if they show up here
