Specking the mid-length cable for a pair of 6XXs with a balanced connector comes out to $198?! Every headphone ships with a cable the manufacturer thought was a good cable (which is to say, a cable the manufacturer thought was good enough to make their headphones sound the way they thought they should sound--which by extension, means no manufacturer would supply a crappy cable, because a crappy cable would make their headphones sound crappy and that would be the opposite of what they want--but this will make them sound better than the manufacturer thought they could make them sound?
Assuming that was actually the, doesn't it stand to reason the manufacturers would just include a better cable to begin with? And that that cable (owing to the economics of scale) could be built and sold for much, much less than two-hundred dollars? So what manufacture would give up the opportunity to offer a better sounding headphone (read: sell more headphones) at the marginal extra cost of a better cable?
don't buy these then if you think cables are pointless. i don't see the need to insult other would-be buyers by claiming they must be on drugs
Perhaps you're taking me a little too literally?
Hey, I find you again haha.
Totally agree with you.
What I disagree with is that, if people have enough money to spend that much money on a cable, let them do so.
Yes, according to me, it is stupid but they earned their money and I don't really care about changing their mind.
Maybe if I wasn't a (relatively) restricted budget student that relies on Christmas to buy headphones, I'd look into after market cables as I said earlier I still find it stupid since you can find decent cables for 20$ all over internet...
Yes it is awfully overpriced but as long as they don't waste my money on this I don't really have anything to say!
Well in that regard, David Lee Roth once said: "I used to have a drug problem--now I can afford them"
RayF is everywhere. I saw him at Walmart one time.
I'll keep this one if you don't mind.
That must have been scary.
So you say. Other people say the same about Elvis--one of you isn't telling the truth.
PS: RayF has left the building ;- )
Sure you can. And with the right drugs, you can even fly.
Some of us (Massdrop members) CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CABLES. Cardas is my choice for all audio cables.
ALL IN FUN HAVE A GOOD DAY CHAP
Now replying in all caps?! My god--I been corresponding with Donald Trump the whole time!!!
I got this on Amazon 2m NEW Replacement Audio upgrade Cable For Sennheiser HD414 HD420 HD430 HD525 HD545 ... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X325C1O/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_TwQzBb3A429F4 and not because it will change the sound of my HD6xx but because it looks better then the ones that came with the headphone, but yeah $198 is crazy for cables that won’t change the performance of your headphone . But there is people that need there drugs and this is how they get it.
Nice cables, good price—I may grab a set;- )
I bought those also for my 650's. I have no problem with them. I love them and they didn't change the sound any. I was trying to figure out why these cables were so much and if they actually change the sound or something. If they don't change the sound then.. why?
The build quality and only that. But as I said earlier, you can buy 6 pairs of the one he linked to arrive to the cheapest one sold here.
I am pretty sure 6 pairs of this cable you linked would last just as long as one par of Cardas.
Reviewing cables you haven't tried, obviously you're the one being foolish.
yeah you're right i'm the fool for not dropping almost $200 on cables that do what to my audio again?!
what again? I haven't heard them either, do you still want me to explain how they sound like to you with zero actual data? They sound like pink elephants.
So way call me foolish for not buying drugs?
" So way called me foolish for not buying drugs? " What? put down the pills...
LOL!! you started post and pulled my name to your first post on this topic like I was the one that started it.
these are called replies, i replied to your comment, understand? Those moments when you realize the person you are talking to should not currently be operating light equipment.
Yes, and I said in my first post that it's not worth spending that much money on cables that won't change the performance of your headphone so way call me foolish for stating my opinion on the cable.
Just read the comment... " Reviewing cables you haven't tried..."
You dont have an opinion on the sound of the cable, sober up and realize that you have not heard them.
And neither have you so why call people foolish.
Lol you will never not be confused, anyone else can simply read the comments and see its foolish to review the sound of a cable you have not heard, which you did, I did not, lol, if you continue to be confused simply reread the conversation, good day.
All I’m doing is telling people that cables are subjective to looks it dosent change how you listen to your music, I can care less how much you spend on cables, but for the ones that don’t know it feels good to share this info form a foolish review
Since you recognize its foolish fine, but its also dishonest fyi
First off I wasn't reviewing the cable and I wasn't the one that started this topic, I was just pointing out that the price was crazy for cables that don't change the way you hear music then you reply to me and not to the person that started this topic.
"EffinRed Reviewing cables you haven't tried, obviously you're the one being foolish."
saying obviously am the one being foolish when its a true fact that cables don't make a difference to the way you hear things. that was my first post the whole time. Maybe your the one that needs to know how to reply to the right person.
Its like saying MP3 at 320kbps and FLAC at 320kbps is different.... Now that a different topic I don't even want to get started
You really think higher priced cable sound better?
You haven't heard them, you reviewed their sound AGAIN
For anyone else stumbling into here that might actually want to know, cables do have an effect on the sound... a short run for a headphone cable is however unlikely to produce a noticable difference. Will these cables, however, measure differently, perhaps have a different impedence and other characteristics to scientifically show why cables are "different"? Well I haven't tested them but cables do have quite a few variables that would be expected to be different, but will I make stuff up like EffinRed and WalterBlack want me to? No... I will continue to state that if you want to know any audible difference between things you should go listen to it and not post dishonest bullshit on the internet about stuff you havent tried, I think that answers all the confusion, again, that is present. If you are still lost, try try again!
I await more deaf reviews in this thread lol
If better cable quality could actually improve the signal they transport, why doesn't the 1000$ hdmi cable improve the image that goes through it?
Walter, stop trolling, you just asked me about a digital cable improving a signal during transport... lol this discussion might as well get into redmere territory about how even a digital transmission can be diminished... but you have to read more to start that.
If better quality cable would make a different then way headphone companies wouldn't just include it to improve their product and gain on the extra cash?
You know what I meant. If thid cable doesn't improve the image quality, why a cable equally overpriced would improve the sound one?
WalterBlack why do redmere cables diminish the quality of HDMI signals, and why do non redmere cables provide better quality(you'll understand if you research the first part of this question)? Also, what happens when an original HDMI 1.0 cable is used to transport a 1080p 240hz signal to a display? You'll know a lot more when you answer these questions instead.
Why would adding a more expensive cable = profit for the headphone maker? lol you guys are too funny, start answering my questions now! lol Why would adding a more expensive cable = profit for the headphone maker?
btw thats all I'm adding now to this nonsense, questions, you guys are lost for answers it seems so lets just fight it out with questions lol
Ok I have read what redmere technology is, from what I understand it allows you to have thinner and longer cables with a higher bandwith so the signal is transmitted to the display faster.
Still doesn't explain me how an audio cable can change the sound, I don't even think most of these high-priced cable company advertise a better sound quality....
What technology your cables uses that allows a better sound ? Because I'll be the first to try it.
I'll help you out, redmere recreates the signal and actually halves the color resolution, also called "subsampling" to 4:2:2
Cool, still not answering huh ?
You want me to explain electrical engineering to you?
I'd like you to tell me what cable "improves" sound and why, if it means explaining electrical engineering be my guest.
I never stated any "improved" sound of this cable, but if you want to prove all cables "sound the same" be my guest. Will different impedences as i've mentioned change analog signal transmission slightly...yes. Are we even in a rational discussion yet about how to judge the signifigance of these differences between cables when you are just shouting about a cable you haven't heard...?
Seriously, go compare a cable, read a scientific explanation of how amps work, how cables compare, read some stuff from mogami and canare about the sound of their cables... these are not digital cables, they dont have "upsampling" or magic improvements that are objectively better all the time, what they do have is differences... electrical differences, that I will only speak opinions about being "better" "worse" or "the same" after I've actually done testing, oh and also, I will point out when people are stating opinions as facts with no evidence or even experience. Make sense?
oh man, I stumped you with "from what baseline" yes comparisons like "improved" require more than 1 thing to be compared, seriously this subject is rather complex to be addressed so unscientifically. If you read through the comments this is what I'm stating my opinions on, not the cable. edit right I was challenging myself to poise these all as questions to provoke some intelligent thought here, right?
This was fun though, like an argument "jog"
Haha of course you stumped me, I don't understand this word since I am not english (therefore could you develope a bit, I'd like to understand).
baseline can also mean starting point, but in this use a better translation is reference point.the "baseline" is like the line at the bottom or "base" of an instrument, or just the first measurement of something before following measurements. So when you asked me if it was better, I basically asked "better than what?(what baseline, what reference?)" Anyway good luck on further trolling in english.
Oooooh so the baseline would be the stock cable then !
Its a good word to understand as you take a more objective approach to comparing things, I do hope you will move away from people talking without experience and judge things more scientifically, otherwise you will continue to think even HDMI cables are all the same... and that your new 4k monitor is broken lol
Yes thats a reasonable assumption of the baseline except we have not established WHICH "stock cable" is being refered to, and even if there was only one, I would have to ACTUALLY HEAR THIS CABLE OR RUN SOME MEASUREMENTS TO DETERMINE OBJECTIVELY THE DIFFERENCES. Maybe you get the theme of my replies from this one?
