Plexiglass Vs Sapphire Vs Mineral Glass | TimeKeeperForum.com https://www.timekeeperforum.com › ... › WATCH FORUMS › Other Watch Brands May 4, 2011 - 14 posts - ‎8 authorsSapphire is virtually scratch proof but will crack/chip if hit hard. Mineral glass will scratch under hard use but is a little tougher than sapphire.

needhelpYou have quoted the first observation of a layperson on a watch forum. Even if you continue reading that thread, you will see that person is clearly not informed. For clarity, I'm a qualified mining engineer and mineral surveyor. Sapphire is tougher in every way than mineral based glass. Diamond would be about the only thing that could be tougher both to impact and scratch damage.
