I have the hifiman he-400 and the he-400i. Would I be better getting this to power them or the fiio e17k alpen 2?
I should also note I already own the fiio e17 alpen v1
this is more powerful than Fiio E17K. Although would you need so much power after all?
I don't know! lol I'm new to the hi-if community and I just started with the hifiman and e17 combo! Any suggestions would be appreciated as I'm a total newb. Would you recommend I get this as a future proof amp? Or go for the cheaper e17k? The e17 I bought was used for a couple years so I got it really cheap just as a starter amp.
The e17 I have doesn't have bass boost. It just has treble and bass gain adjustments (unless that would be considered a bass boost?). I was also looking a picking up a pre owned jdslabs o2 amp because it was extremely cheap too.
yea that's precisely what's touted as bass boost on C5D. O2 is a good amp. You can get the B-stock for $99 from the website itself. Their is a comparison of JDSlabs C5d with Cayin C5D on head-fi. You can probably check that out and make an informed decision. I own a Cayin C5D. Although I don't experience on any other DAC+Amp combo apart from Schiit Fulla and Fiio E07K both of which the Cayin trumps.
Do you think I should get a DAC for the o2 amp as it's the v1 without the ODAC? Or do you know if I can run the o2 through my e17 as the DAC? And thanks for the advice!
If it doesn't have a line out then I don't think you can unless there are adapters to bypass the signal to amp. I might be wrong so don't quote me on this.
Okay thanks a lot for the info! Very much appreciated!!
