Hey gang, we are thinking of introducing an updated model here at massdrop.
DACmini 2 will be upgraded for the modern age and will have lots of today's bells and whistles, such as Hi-Res, DSD, support, upgraded DAC, Wireless, etc. Possibly even a balanced headphone output. Any takers?

Received a replacement for the DACmini and, so far, the optical has stopped freezing. USB still freezes with one of the main devices for which the DACmini was made: A MacBook Pro. I'm currently testing the USB in with my PS4 to see whether the DACmini freezes with any device connected to the USB port or simply the laptop I use in recording studios without any issues at all.

For about a week now, my DACmini CX has been freezing. It gets stuck on the optical setting and makes no sound until I unplug it, which isn't good for any electronic device. This happens at least five times a day, which isn't making me feel good about the purchase. I've never had problems like this with any other DAC.
Also, it makes a lot of digital noise initially when locking with the digital signal; then it sounds clean. Again, haven't had that issue with any other DAC.

Does anyone else's unit have an issue where turning the volume knob makes a buzzing sound in their left headphone driver? My DACmini does this with all of my headphones and IEM's, although it only started within the past month.

We have some good news to share with everyone. Our vendor reached out today to inform us that the cargo is currently en route to our warehouse. They provided us with tracking, and the shipment is scheduled to arrive this coming Monday.
Our warehouse team will be ready to immediately break the bulk order down and prepare your individual orders for shipment. Their goal will be to get everything out the door the same day as arrival.
Expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 9/25 or sooner if something comes up.

I did just that and sent my DACmini to Massdrop two/three weeks ago with their RMA. Still waiting to hear whether they got the shipment and what they're doing about it.

As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where we'll break it up into individual orders and ship them directly to you! The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 9/21.
