scottm-djI would need to knew more about your BD player, do I assume correctly that it refers to Blue Ray Disk player? If so, it's almost a given that DACmini will offer you a better DAC and therefore, cleaner sound with large soundstage, precise instrument definition and non-fatiguing sound you can enjoy for long hours. If BD refers to something else, let me know.

scottm-djYes it will sound different in those two applications because when you feed an analog input to the DACmini it will not be performing a D/A conversion, thus the sound quality will be only as good as your BD player's DAC and associated circuitry are. (which likely is not as good as the DACmini)
It won't matter what the digital format was when using RCA input (i.e. 24/192) because the signal will have already been converted to an analog signal.
So no, the RCA inputs do not accept material the same way the digital inputs do.
The best way (in my opinion) to get your BD audio through the DACmini is via a digital connection, preferably SPDIF/coax.

CE--one more connection question; I am all analog...my BD player feeds my preamp vs 6 analog cables and then 6 more to my amp (inexpensive awesome cables here btw): http://www.cs1.net/products/canare/LV-61S_precision_SACD.htm .
If i connnect to the CX via optical/coax out of my BD player vs keeping it ALL analog using RCA connectors (from my preamp)...would there be a sonic difference? Do the RCA inputs accept 24/192 material the same way the digital/usb connectors do? Bottom line; how can i best get the 24/192 signal my BD puts out over to the headphones fully intact?
One more thing--one review said there was a speaker popping surge when selecting inputs on the front. Was that an anomaly or definitely been fixed?
