snlyIt has only come up on Drop once in the past that I'm aware of. I'm very happy I pulled the trigger and didn't wait for it... BUT, to be honest this thing is just as good if you don't need a treble or bass boost and don't need something with a battery/have a power brick for long listening sessions. Sometimes I actually prefer this thing because its much thinner than the dacportable., and easier to carry around. Soundwise, I can barely tell the difference between them. I'd say this thing is EVER so slightly warmer than the dacportable... but I really don't noticed it unless I'm plugging these into my more revealing speaker system. As a portable device, I can't really tell the difference between them on most of what I would bring around with me. So unless you're taking around electrostats, just in need of the battery (I don't think it makes much of a difference soundwise), or boosts, then it is kind of a toss up. Also, just so you know, the dacportable drains the battery on my phone too... just more slowly...

CEntranceCan you recommend a cheap cable for this that will work between this unit, my phone, and a power brick (USB A)? No cables I've tried have been able to charge my phone (usb-c) and give it power at the same time while this unit is attached. I've seen it done, but I can't find an actual cable that does it... preferably under around 10 bucks (or less) would be best. Amazon is probably sick of me returning cables that to them that don't work. To be clear... looking for a usb-c male (for my phone) to micro usb male (for the dacport hd) and usb a male (for a power brick), that will provider power through the power brick to my devices (phone and dacport hd).

zep483Hi! You are right. But soundwise dacportable > dacport HD..the level is different for different iems or headphones. But dacportable is bulky. For desktop it is normal. unfortunately no idea about data/power cable..i use Shanling L2 for data transfer between usb dac and phone (hidizs dh1000). Hidizs has the battery so there is no need for me in power brick

snlyI mean i own both, sound-wise there's barely any difference... even for iems. The dacport hd is a tad warmer... but I'd have to swap back and forth in a moment with the same iem to even tell any difference at all. dacportable is more powerful, so different levels for sure.

zep483Usb C(onfusion) cables have different current ratings. Cheap ones doesn’t really output more than usb 2.0. They are just usb 2.0 with a c connector. Fast charging phone cables are generally usb 2.0 type c with enhanced current rating from 2A to 5A. If it is only cable related issue, your best bet could be amazon basic ones that can do usb 3.1 (15 bucks, but does 5V/3A).
