slim arrived in Australia too, as everyone i had problem for the device's recognition on win 7.
i had to manually override the driver signature enforcement for the file ceusbaud.sys into the directory system32/drivers to solve the problem (alternatively u can try the program dseo) and i can confirm the device is really picky, it works only into 2 out of 10 usb (static sound in the other 8) tried only with direct usb on the motherboard.
i can't compare with other DAC because this is my first, but i never expected so much improve in quality for 100 dollars.
Thank you Centrance
P.S. if your device it's not recognised try to clean all traces of USB-connected drives with programs similar to USB oblivion
Thank you for the good words. We will quote you on our website, with your permission.
Regarding stability, we have released two driver versions already and stability is much improved. We have learned a lot about people's systems in the recent weeks and are almost out of the woods with this compatibility research. We understand the problem and should have all installation issues fixed shortly.
As far as bringing the product back, this is up to Massdrop. We spoke to them and told them that we wanted to first make sure all issues are fixed so that we only have happy customers. That would make the second drop go much smoother.
Where can I get one of these 2 driver versions? The website only has the original one (7.4.17) that I tried to no avail. I would be very interested to try a new one. Thank you for your help!
Says 7.4.17 on website, I proceed to download and get 7.4.18 lol.
