Are these in stock at Massdrop like the 7XXs, or is the shipping date on the page accurate? I'm interested in this, but don't want it to arrive well after my headphones do.
AFAIK they are in stock at MD warehouse they only have the limited 250 left until CEntrance manufactures more and they said it would probably be months time before that happens.
Shipping date is probably estimated so far away because this is a long drop at 11 days left still.
Please correct me if I am wrong somebody.
+ Where is the link to the updated firmware?; or will it be included in the Windows 10 update?
Yeah, that is what I am hoping. I get the feeling this may not be the case however, as the 7XX drop explicitly says so, and this description does not. If they are at MD however, I'm in.
Check out Page 35 an ex·cerpt from CEntrance's post "The units will be coming from Massdrop's warehouse"
He had other things to say as well that would be important to read. (firmware update/new W10 driver coming soon etc...)
The stock is in the Massdrop warehouse. They will ship as soon as the drop ends.
Can someone from CEntrance please describe how the updated firmware will be distributed?
In the last couple days we have sent updated firmware to several beta testers. So far the reports are positive and all USB ports are now working when before only one worked. This is encouraging and we will be posting the new firmware on our website shortly. Just want to hear back from a couple more people for safety.
There will be two updaters. One is a Mac application for Mac users, another is a PC applicaton for Windows users. You would have to unzip it to the desktop and run. It will do everything on its own and update the firmware. It will take 15 sec. We are making it very simple.
The Mac application is ready now. Let us know if you have a Mac handy, which you can use to run it. The one for the PC will be ready this weekend. That's the one for folks who don't have access to a Mac. We will be all over this thread when it's ready.
Is it the same firmware for both platforms? I just joined the drop, and I would like to use this on both Mac and Windows systems.
Yes, firmware is the same for Mac and PC. You can use DACport Slim on either platform. The decision to release two updaters is simply for convenience. One works on the Mac and the other one works on PC. Otherwise, we'd have PC users hunt around to find a Mac, or Mac users asking around to borrow a PC to perform the upgrade on -- that would be highly inconvenient. So now, there is a tool for everyone. Both tools will do the same thing.
By the way, we are testing the PC tool now and will soon post both on our website.
Can't wait to actually be able to use this for longer than a couple minutes!
Thanks for keeping in touch with the community and giving us frequent updates on the progress.
