It's taken me a while to get enough time to listen to this. I have an Apogee Duet recording interface that I use for headphone listening, but it's big and not practical to use all the time. I wanted something small, and relatively inexpensive-the Dacport fits my need. I use it with both my iMac and MacBook Pro. It was 'plug and play' on both, with no drivers required.
My main headphones are ATM50s, which are a fairly critical set of phones. I also have various Sennheisers, AKGs, and Sure IEMs. I listen a lot to percussion, strings, chamber music, as well as metal, prog, jazz and pop, so my listening range is wide. I've also been a musician for over 40 years, so I've heard it all.
With acoustic music, the sound breathes. You can hear the 'air.' Voices, strings, and percussion are crisp and clear. I listened with my Sennheiser HD545 open back phones and the soundstage was wide and expressive.
Switching back to the ATM50s for some BÖC, Ghost, and TOOL, the sound was still expansive. While not bass heavy, it was balanced. It seems to handle all music equally well. The other nice thing is that even after many hours of listening, I didn't feel any 'digital fatigue ' like I've experienced with other units.
For $100 it's a definite winner. I'll have to get another one.

NedBThanks, appreciate your enthusiasm and thoughtful comments. As a musician, you will also like MixerFace, our new portable iPhone recording interface. Coming later this year.
