This looks like a beast! Is there any way i could use this as a bananced dac only? (Hook it up to an amp via the XLR output?
If that is possible, this purchase is a no-brainer!

LordAbbeWe actually have a PRO model with two male XLR outputs and can custom make that for you. That model does not have a headphone output however, since the slim chassis can only fit two XLR jacks and a level control. But for portable applications, especially in pro audio, that model is ideal, as it allows to pipe high quality audio into an amp, into a mixing console at a live gig, etc.
Having said that, even the stock XL4 unit can feed an external amp, since the output distortion is immeasurably low. You would just need a cable to go from the 1/4" output jack to a pair of XLRs. Or from the 4pin XLR balanced output to two 3-pin XLRs. Those cables are readily available.
