So... just got it today, plugged in the USB/power along with my pair of T90, installed the drivers, started up Foobar2000, set the output to anything labeled CEntrance....
Finally! For those with the LX model, be mindful of the input selector switch, since the iconography still uses the original. Also, you have to match frequency, otherwise you may get some funky sounds.
As for the sound, still working on quantifying it, but I can't complain. Not entirely sure if it's better than my O2/ODAC combo, but I'm happy with my purchase so far.
Sorry, what do you mean by 'match' the frequency? I thought this thing was just plug and play, and it will process anything thrown at it provided it was <= 24/192 ?
Heh... didn't catch this...
What I meant was, if the frequency you put for the M8 to play at isn't matched by the program that's outputting the audio and you aren't using WASAPI, the M8 will faithfully assume the setting in the control panel is all it'll ever get, and garble any other frequency as a result.
Allow me to correct that statement. M8 does not have any sampling rate selection. It IS plug and play. It will adjust to whatever is playing and will reproduce that correctly. This is how it works for most people. It's possible that your computer is mis-configured and the application is playing something that the OS doesn't understand. In many cases our freely downloadable Universal Driver for Windows will solve the problem, allowing you to adjust the settings in the ASIO control panel. On the Mac you don't typically experience any such mismatches. It just plays.
Let us know if you have any specific questions and we will be happy to walk you through the setup.
You may be right, though why my system was acting up at that time, I've no idea. Way too long ago for me to recall the exact steps I took, since I just tried a few things this time and the control panel simply switches things to a working combination.
Now I just need to wait for the UERM drop to finish...
