Yo I totally believe the skin effect is legit. Litz wire is great. I also believe that signals seeing different impedances will be differently attenuated and undergo different phase delays. Consider a bunch of wires of diameter MUCH smaller than the skin depth associated with your top frequency. Now ANY signal you're going to use will see the same impedance. Right? What am I missing?
Also, your triangle/sine wave test I don't buy. Speaker diaphragms and many other things in the signal chain can exhibit intermodulation distortion that'll bring sufficiently high frequencies down into the audio range. Saying you can hear frequencies well beyond 20 KHz is like saying you have an organ that humans aren't actually known to have, given that you don't have those associated stereocilia.
