The Snake Oil comments are seriously uninformed. If they wanted $300 or $3000 I'd agree, but $50 when you consider materials and labor involved is not really overpriced. Can your lamp cord sound the same? Yes, but over time you might have corrosion issues or other challenges. Going to this kind of cable basically assures you can forget about that aspect of your system and it looks nice doing it. I'm the biggest audiophile skeptic out there and sold off nearly all of my gear after spending more than I will admit chasing sound. I've simplified and won't look back. But having basic, good cables is worth it. Just don't overpay for junk and this isn't junk.
Or go buy the tools, heat gun, banana plugs, shrink tubing, flex wrap and copper cable and do it yourself.
UncleMusketWhile I did get a chuckle from the the fact these are marked down from $299.95, $50 seems like a reasonable price for the build quality, even if 8 ft. is on the short side.
UncleMusketWhen all of the claims as to why they're better (aside from the visually pleasing construction) boil down to skin effect, yes, people are going to call it snake oil. And rightly so.
Why yes, I do assemble my own cables. I even spend the few minutes required to hook them up to a tone generator and o-scope 'em.
