RochRx7I didn't already have a sub; I ended up purchasing my SVS PB-1000 after getting the Arx. I wasn't sure if I was going to need it, but I wanted it, and it completes the sound, filling in the lows that the Arx just can't reach.
I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with ~700sqft, ~8-9ft ceilings that doesn't need volume, but fidelity! I would have loved the dedicated midrange driver on the A5, but the lower woofer on the A3rx-c (correct me if I'm wrong, Jon) is actually crossed over to act as a midrange driver, even though it's not any different technically from the top woofer. He said he found the A3rx-c to be very musical, and even though I watch my fair share of movies and play a fair amount of games, I purchased the speakers to be excellent for music above all else. And excellent they are. :) I still find little flaws for certain songs that just aren't quite sparkly enough, but they sound so good with my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon (Ortofon 2M Red, Emotiva XPS-1 preamp) that I can't be upset.
