Would it be possible to flame-anodize one of these? Greatly appreciated.

doesn't really bother me, but given the discussion above I thought I'd chime in and say mine seems to scratch pretty easily from keys/etc in my pocket

Titanium is lighter and harder than stainless steel and less prone to scratching.
NorrisB, there are many different alloys of both stainless and titanium, with different levels of hardness. But under the Rockwell and Brinell hardness tests, titanium is the harder metal the vast majority of the time. I can also tell you from personal experience working with it that titanium is a harder metal. It wears out our polishing materials a lot quicker than stainless steel, and it's also less prone to scratching and indentation.

JL2015Thanks for clarifying
This is John from Chicago Comb writing. Regarding the price - it reflects the material and work involved in creating these combs. Pure titanium is very expensive, and there is a lot of work done by hand to polish these combs. Titanium is an incredible material - light and extremely strong - but with that comes a whole backstory of what it takes to turn this incredible metal into something you can use every day, with a gentle and soft and comfortable feeling on your scalp. These are really special combs. Please check them out; I think you'll love them!

I bought the stainless sell one. I love it. Somehow my hair has never looked so good. I didn't get it to show off, but when someone catches me using it a compliment follows. Plastic combs always bent and broke in my pocket - not this! The price is exorbitant but I know I'll have this for the rest of my life. If titanium had been an option I'd have gone for it for the corrosion protection.

MightyUnlikelyWhy would you want Titanium over Stainless Steel? Titanium is softer and more prone to scratches.

Hey guys at Massdrop, I've sent you an e-mail regarding the typo for the price of this comb. Just kidding, although that is how I really feel. Some of you guys can afford $55 for a comb, but the rest of us can dream about it. I will say though, I still use my father's old titanium comb from years ago and that comb still works because well... it's a comb. I hope this comb does the service you require of it, but for me I will stick to CVS Conair combs. Maybe when I stop wasting money on trying different waxes, clays and pomades I will have accrued enough savings to splurge on a $50 comb. Until then, I hope to see cheaper combs about Massdrop.
