I thought this was supposed to ship 10 days from end of drop... From description: "Estimated time until product ships: 10 business days after the drop end date." It's been a bit longer than that now??

KamikazeYes... estimate would imply to me few days (1 to 3) but in this case.. last we have heard on this second shipment from MASSDROP is that they haven't received the watches from the supplier yet.. so one could summarize that it will be few days before they get the tracking info.. then few days after that before they themselves (MASSDROP) receive the items.. then as short as 1 day to 3 days it will take them to ship them out to the customers..
My rough prediction is that we are getting the watches around 25 days after ordering them (not estimated 10 days) as we are approaching 20 days and they have mentioned they haven't received them yet nor the tracking info of incoming shipment..

reygUnfortunately, this is a common problem with Massdrop. Whether it is from their end or the vendors end, I am not sure but I have participated in a few drops where it took me over a month at times to get my product. I guess this is the tradeoff for getting things at a discount?

jcouYep, it's definitely a "flaw" in our model, in that we are very reliant on our upstream vendors. Also, when dealing with new vendors (as is the case with this situation), they occasionally lie or exaggerate their volumes "in stock", etc. (Or, their stock changes drastically over the 1 week buy-period. If Newegg steps in and buys 1000 units, our "group buy" order will probably get de-prioritized.
We placed our order for the 140, and they shipped us 60, and said the rest would be following soon after (which has been communicated to you guys) - and we've immediately shipped out those 60 units.
The remainder are supposed to be arriving in three different batches from three different regional warehouses this week, and early next week. Without tracking on the inbound parcels to our warehouse, I don't want to make any promises about delivery times. In general, we should have the rest in (and out to you guys) "really soon" (it's as frustrating to hear that as it is to say that).
We absolutely call our vendors to put pressure on them, but it's a delicate balance, because there's always the possibility they can just call us and tell us "here's your money back, we're not shipping the rest to you".
I don't want to get too into the nitty gritty of our operations but that's a bit of insight into why some things ship perfectly in 3-4 days, and others take longer. We generally "estimate" 10 business days because that's our site-wide average.
As we work with this distributor more, we should get more clarity for future buys and the groups "clout" to get inventory allocations and bigger discounts will grow :) To me, that's really exciting.

reygLike Mark said, it is a site-wide average. I think they do this just to get put out an arbitrary number just so impatient people would not get scared off from the buy. Especially since this is a new vendor as mentioned above, they would not have an accurate estimate because they don't have a baseline for shipping times from Citizen yet.
In reality, I'm sure the shipping times vary depending on the vendor and that the curve for delivery times must be very, very wide. There are some vendors that ship way under that 10 day estimate and as seen with this buy there are some vendors that ship way over the 10 days.
Again, it really varies from vendor to vendor and as I have participated on a few drops and have gotten both ends of the spectrum, I've come to expect the variance from Massdrop and I am still a satisfied buyer. I wouldn't buy an item here if I really needed it by a certain time, I buy here to sacrifice delivery time for the price, since time=money.
BTW Mark or other Massdrop employee: I am totally available to work for your marketing or PR team, just saying. (Just kidding, but only half kidding.)
