Good knife for the price.
As with most Civiv knives, you get alot of bang for your buck. This one is no different. It's hefty and cuts well.

great knife
Blade is a very good shape, comes VERY sharp out of the box, has a great handle and the whole knife looks great. And of course that G10 feels great. Put it through some places and it's performed and stayed sharp. It comes with a great compact carrying case that is zippered and has a furry polyester or cotton lining.

Great knife. has replaced my others as go to EDC
So, as per my title, this has replaced all my other knives as EDC. I work in HV Substations as an electrician and a salt water fisherman as a reference point on how my knives get used. Skip to the last paragraph if you just want to know why Durus is my EDC now, now. My current (folding) collection includes Kizer Roach, Ganzo/Firebird FH61, Ruike Fang and Boker mollusk/Nano So first up, a contrary point: my mollusk will always be my social knife (the one I take to a late social event (say a pub with friend)) as it is practically impossible to perceive it as a weapon, and it is still very useful if the need arises. Ok, with that out the way, out of the box I was less then impressed with the action, it was nearly painful to flip beacause of the grooving on the flipper tab (which is also pointy) and the lockbar. I had heard so much about this knife being excellent, so compared to my others, I was rather disappointed by this. But I decided to give it a go because the blade shape and material really gives me a 70 on the rockwell scale. Those two things along with the complete knife design really make this a stella knife. I dont have much more to say about the blade and grip design other then that it work really well and is a pleasure. Oh, before I go on, best pocket clip I have tried ever. its an actual deep carry that works well. Two weeks and N+1 flips later (N=current number of flips): ok, so first impressions on flipping out the window. This flips nearly as fast as the Ganzo FH61, but without a spring! so it feels more like a conventional flipper, the fh61 flipper tab nearly accelerates away from your finger which makes it feel a bit odd. The flipper tab and stuff are still a bit sharp, but are fine, though they are a far cry from the flipper tab of the Kizer Roach and Ganzo fh61 Hollow ground D2 drop points are not that common, almost everything out there is a flat or high saber grind, and I'm not sure why, especially on a blade of this size! the hollow grind and deep belly makes the most of the D2 steel and this slices like plasma CNC machine. not to much more to say here, cant fault it. Apart from one thing, its a bit hard to grip the blade with the jaws of my sharpening system, but it can be done, just a bit of faffing about. For food prep I prefer using the taller blade of the Kizer Roach, but the roach is nearly rather large to have a edc, too big for me at work, to heavy for fishing. Its defo coming with me in my camper though, it's great on onions and can process wood for a fire if needed, though I have better tools for wood. Durus will process apples, stakes, bananas, fish ETC, but Roach is just better. Now, at the top I mentioned salt water fishing. Yes, I have been to the beach, caught and processed fish for consumption with the Durus. I even rinsed the blade in the sea. Now, D2 is not known for it's corrosion resistance, well it is, or rather, lack of. bearing this in mind, I did not have any water with me to wash the salt water off, so to preserve the blade I shook off excess water, wiped it dry, licked it and dried it again. This sufficed until I got back to my accommodation where I could properly clean the knife. four hours had passed and not a single spot on the blade. Though it is D2, it did get a couple small of spots in my shorts pocket when I was wearing fire retardant overalls on a hot day lifting batteries. those spots polished off with my fingernail so no issues. So, what I'm saying here is that D2 is moderately rust prone, but if you can to some really primitive knife maintenance, you should be sweet till you can deal to it properly, all knives need care and I would never use a knife in salt and not wash it. That's just asking for rusty knives, doesn't matter what the metal is or what its coated with. So why has it replaced those other knives as my EDC? I like my knives to be friendly, which means clip points and spear points already have a -1 (Fh61 and fang) they need to be fairly light and small (-1 for Roach), need to be not noticeable (ie carrys deep) (-1 roach) and they still need to be pointy (-1 Boker Mollusk) what am I left with still having 0 points taken away? Civivi Durus. Durus carries deep and light and is an excellent pointy slicey knife, it feels great in lots of grips and used for many different tasks (stripping SWA cables, fishing) So overall I'd give this knife a 4.5/5 for work and general life. I feel no knife can get a 5/5 as that would be a cheep long short tall squat thick thin knife made of s110v. But for what this knife is I think it's great. It would get 4.75 if the flipper tab and lock bar were smoother. I see a mod coming up ;) Next review is: Ferrum Forge Falcon.

It’s a decent knife I just expected a little more. Better action & fill.
Also it’s kind of weird that other than the c in blade pivot bolt (witch looks like a new power on button) it has no markings at all. who knows maybe it needs to break in a little like my ZT does.

I purchased the brown Durus. I like the build, it flips open very with little effort and very comfortable grip. The blade has a great hollow grind to it and I am partial to this blade design. The blade was very sharp and evenly ground. The size is great for edc not to small not to big. It has a nice clip on it and sits very comfortablely in my pocket. The scales are a nice looking design and provide a very nice grip. I would have liked a matt finish rather than the shiny finish but, it's a handsome knife. I would love to see this knife with some exotic wood scales, I'd buy,it in a heartbeat.

Coletrain58YES! This one would look great in Cocobolo or Rosewood like some of their other blades. I have the Rosewood Elementum and love it.
