I got the carbon fiber version of this knife and although I really like the profile and design elements it falls flat. The action sucked, there is no traction plan, and it overall feels like a gas station knife. This is my first one-star review and it is just sad.
the edge stays nice and the shape works for what i need but the bearing channel gets clogged with dirt and flipping it open needs gravity after some field work with it. not reccomended if you want something that flips without inertia or gravity i have to flick the knife open after relleasing it from the detent but with the gloves i use and the g10 grip im not worried about it leaving my hand when i flick it. i wear nitrile gloves over my winter gloves and the g10 texture itsnt too rough on them. but yeah it doesnt open easy after some light field use but its a work horse nonetheless
It is definitely larger and heavier than I expected, but that's not to it's detriment.
The construction feels solid and the blade came very sharp out of the box.
Right out of the box it is a sharp and pretty decent little knife. It is of cheaper construction however, it will do the job. 2.5mm of the tip broke off the one I purchased. Im not very hard on equipment so this was a surprise for me.
This is the knife that made me realize I need thumb studs. I just found the blade too heavy for the flipper. Maybe it’s my hands, maybe it’s the way I hold it. I don’t know, but I missed my thumb studs or a hole to get purchase on. The blade glides nice enough. The weight felt a bit much for the flipper for me. The stonewash is beautiful though. Even on the frame lock. Good scales too. Grippy without being sharp. The blue is nice. Goes with faded jeans superbly. If you’re used to thumb studs, prepare for some adjustment. That would be my recommendation to a friend as Drop likes to inquire.
The blade shape and the overall feel of the knife is good
the ease of sharpening is one of the great things when using D2 tool steel. It has a close likeness to stainless steel, so rust isn't a big concern. The big problem with my knife, and from what I've seen is a concern to all, is the detent is way to soft. I just received my knife sharpened it all up nice and cozy put it in my pocket and forgot about it until I needed it. I have on regular shorts, with trouser type pockets, slide my hand into my pocket to grab my knife to use. The blade is open in my pocket, WTH, goes through my head as I pull my hand out with a cut almost to the bone on my thumb. I was a little upset to say the least because I really like the knife, I plan on trying to solve the issue so that I can use the knife, because for the money it would be perfect to wear when you're planning on using it. Just make them safe
