A nice note for an old-fashioned design.
It is a very good notebook for taking notes with a fountain pen.

High quality paper that works well with fountain pens. The journals have a good covering, and are a good size.

Great Notebook Quality with one downside for me
I like the paper quality and ink doesn't bleed through for me. One downside for me is the binding is stiff and does fully let me open the notebook. You kind of have to press down on it to keep it open.

Excellent notebooks
This is my favorite paper. These notebooks are the very best I've written in. no bleed through, no feathering, smooth feel. Even cheap fountain pens feel fantastic in them.

Clairefontaine makes wonderful paper and these clothbound 1951 notebooks, featuring their fantastic Papier Velouté, are outstanding. And all at a very reasonable cost versus other premium notebooks. I would recommend these to any of my fountain pen using pals. As an avid fountain pen user, this paper is the best I have tried so far, often elevating the performance of subpar nibs and inks. The paper is smooth, offering a pleasant gliding feeling even for nibs with considerable feedback. Inks tend to dry more quickly on this paper as well, usually an indicator of absorbency. Somehow the paper also resists feathering better than some premium papers I have tried making unusable inks usable. The 90gsm weight is very resistant to show-through and bleed-through except for the darkest inks in the wettest pens. The paper works wonderfully for dip pens. The binding and cardboard has held up to months-long use (I have used this notebook model for months prior to the Massdrop; see pics). The spine will tend to arch over time and the cardboard isn't thick enough to totally prevent curling from use but they close well enough, even at the end. The notebooks open widely without breaking the spine which makes it easier to write on both sides of the page. Since I already knew about the 1951 notebooks I jumped on this massdrop faster than a roadrunner on a rocket.

The paper is great. Good little book for diary, or other record keeping. The binding is not optimal, but I don’t know of anything better. Takes some getting use to. I keep a half sheet of Bounty in it. Marks my place, rest my hand on it while writing and it’s there in case the book slam shut before my ink dries. Picked up a nice leather cover on another drop. These books are working great for me. I’ve got enough books to last me a while, but i’d definitely do this drop again.

DaddyDiBsSorry. I’ve tried several ways to get you good links but something in this messenger is interfering. Here are the two covers that I have purchased here. They fit the cloth covered A-5 otebookseasily. Also, the quality leather will give a little. I have even been able to fit hard cover leuctturm1917 - A-5 notebooks in mine as well. Both are top quality. Will last me a lifetime. Hope this helps. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/clairefontaine-1951-clothbound-notebooks Rustico A5 Webnotebook Cover – Massdrop Exclusive LM Products Morrison Journal | Price & Reviews | Massdrop

Great Clairefontaine paper that works great with practically any fountain pen nib or ink. However, a little disappointed with the binding flexibility as mentioned by RagamuffinGirl. The books don’t lay flat and can be annoying at times when you are using slow drying inks as pages flip on you.  Great find and value overall. Extremely pleased with this drop.
