OK ... while there's nothing wrong with having this offered as a drop, in no way is it "One of the winning options from the Fountain Pen Friendly Paper for Students poll". (which were almost exclusively A4 sized notebooks)
These notebooks weren't even mentioned in the poll and as far as I am concerned the A5 paper format is never going to be used for taking notes in lectures. By all means say it was inspired by the poll, but frankly, a little truth in advertising please! (And I personally feel that you obviously think I'm an idiot).
Frankly, this is a complaint I have about a lot of drops (and their portrayal of their relationship to polls).

robert.harrisBottom line is they take what is popular and then take what they can get for the cheapest price and biggest return on investment. PERIOD. FP users are all geeks on some level and we all have our preferences and needs, right? Most people, know WAY more about the product than any people sponsoring the drops. Just saying. AGREED on all counts. @agfontanilla, you are also spot-on about line ruling for this side book, unless someone is in, say, grade school or is practicing some form or writing...I GUESS? WTH?

Behike54I think you missed my point ... I totally understand the way it works. And I have no problem with them offering it as a drop .
BUT saying that this result was a winning option of the poll on student notebooks (which is what it said originally - they've now changed it to the Fancy Schmancy poll), is blatantly untrue. This is something they do continually and it personally irks me. Like I say, just say it was inspired by the poll - that is a perfectly reasonable, true and uncontentious statement.
EDIT : I realise that it is just their formulaic method of opening the drop, (and it's entirely possible it's programmed into the website/drop template), but nonetheless, it has been something that has personally made me twitchy a few times, so I thought, why not say something. I just wanted to bring to their attention an improvement to the site. (And to me if it isn't in the top 3 things voted for (or maybe #4 and 5 if they're only split by a vote or two either way), then it ain't "a winner").

Behike54The ruling is the same as in any of the other Clairefontaine lined notebooks. The rulings never change regardless of the notebook size throughout the entire line.

robert.harrisHey @robert.harris -- You make a fair point. To give you some insight on the process:
We always try to offer the most popular item exactly as it has been voted on. Sometimes we can't do that, but are able to make a similar item available. In this case, you are correct that it should be labeled as 'inspired by' or with similar language. That's a great suggestion, and one that I've passed on to the engineering team for serious consideration.
Until that option is available, the choice is either to link the drop to poll that seems relevant but not an exact match and have a number of members get an email for something they might not be interested in, or to not link it and have a number of members who might have been quite happy with the alternative not get notified about a drop they'd like to join. In this case, we might have missed the mark. On the other hand, 75+ members did join the drop.
More importantly, I will keep working to make the the top-voted items available; just because there was one drop here does not mean that we've forgotten about the other, more popular options. Drops can be linked to multiple polls, and polls can result in multiple drops. Both of these things happen regularly.
Thanks, as always, for the constructive criticism. This is your community, and I'm happy to do whatever I can to keep improving it. That wouldn't be possible if members didn't share what they do and don't like to see, so please know that your engagement is truly appreciated.

JonasHeineman@JonasHeineman - I really appreciate you addressing my concerns. At least I know someone heard! I certainly have no problem receiving an e-mail alert for something "similar" to something I voted for. And while this drop was not for me, I was glad to see it, and I'm glad that you're working hard with vendors. Hopefully the (relative?) success of this drop will persuade Clairefontaine that you are worthwhile working with. It may just be that I'm a stickler for language (and total and complete honesty), but really the only thing that irked me was statement itself. Thanks again!

robert.harrisRobert, I have noticed this exact thing happen more than once myself, and it is disenchanting, so say the least. I will keep looking but stepping back and doing my own buying. Paper can be so important depending on the task.
Btw, thanks for clarifying and sorry about the delay in responding. Despite it being the holiday season, the offerings have been so lackluster, wouldn't you say?
Cheers!
