Clairefontaine was founded in 1890 on the site of a 16th-century paper mill located in the Vosges region of France, which is known to have the ideal combination of clear water, abundant forests, skilled craftsmen, and a thriving textile industry. Family run for six generations, Clairefontaine has established a reputation for manufacturing well known and highly sought after paper products.

The A4-sized notebook contains 96 sheets of ruled, acid-free, and pH-neutral paper. With its cloth binding and elastic closure, the Clairefontaine Basic Notebook is marked with an embossed Clairefontaine logo on the front cover. The sturdy cardboard covers offer the perfect amount of flexibility while still protecting the white 90 g satin finished pages. Clairefontaine paper is known for its exceptionally smooth performance, and for being highly resistant to bleed-through, making it perfect for fountain pens and bottled inks.
