This is probably my favorite knife ever.
The only thing that would be better would be if I hadn't ever lost them, this is the third I've bought in 20 years. I've always liked the little tab to catch on your pocket to open it quickly as you pull it out. My old ones had composite handles, and the aluminum handle feels pretty nice in the hand, although it's a little slick. I've never had any of the issues others mentioned about closing them in the new or old knives. Anyone buying should definitely keep in mind that while the knife overall is pretty thin for it's size, a 4" long folder is a little long to be carrying in your pocket all the time if you're in and out of your pockets a lot getting other things.

Very nice knife with a few flaws
I am normally not a fan of Cold Steel knives. This isn't a knock on their quality because the ones that I do have have been rock solid, and this one is no exception. The going street price of this knife is a lot more than I would spend on a Cold Steel product, so having the Drop come at its price made it a bargain. The S35VN steel alone makes it well worth the Drop price paid. It's a relatively lightish weight knife for its size (4" model) and it is very agile in the hand. The handle feels pretty nice in my hand and not as slick as it would seem. It makes a dandy letter opener and has the classic looks of a stiletto, without the fear of getting caught with an auto-knife in non-permissive areas. I EDCed this knife for a few months and found it would do most tasks fairly well. There are a few flaws that I think could prevent this from being a great EDC tool. 1 - Pocket clip: I am a fan of the tip up orientation, but I think there should be a provision from left hand carry. I also think it should have a deep carry clip. This thing rides super high in the pocket. 2 - Blade length: I like big knives, I cannot lie, but this thing is a little long to be carrying comfortably. While it fits my XL hands damn near perfectly, I think paring it down to about 3.5" in blade length would make it excellent. 3 - Handle: The S35VN model comes with aluminum grip scales. While not as slippery as it appears, it is still slicker than G10 or Micarta. I think it is also a little more zaftig than it should be. Thin out the grip and offer it with G10 scales in place of the aluminum and you have a fantastic EDC tool. There is one thing that struck me about this knife. Just about every CS product I have purchase was hair-popping, shaving sharp out of the box. This, OTOH, was not. While it was a usable edge, I did need to run it on some ceramic rods and a strop to get it to where my CS GI Tanto was out of the box. It has held that edge pretty well though. Overall, it's a nice knife, but not perfect.

This is a brute of a knife. I'm having problems with the lock-up occasionally sticking in the open position. The liner lock just doesn't open up all the way to allow the knife to close. Doesn't happen every time. I'm thinking keep practicing until it loosens up a little. Lorne

koochykoo52I'm having the same issue. It's just a design flaw. The lock up is very stiff, and once opened, I have to use both thumbs to push the Liner lock all the way past the blade to get it to release. Just way too stiff!

I had no business spending that much money on a knife, but boy am I glad I did. The most lethal thing I’ve stabbed so far is a box, but it worked flawlessly as demonstrated by the Cold Steel promo video. If you’re looking for a knife to add inches to your member, look no further.

It's actually designed to be open using the quillion as a Wave-like feature.
