Great blade, but a overpriced compared to cheaper version...
This is a great VG-10 blade. High quality build, but cost about 5x for the cheaper version from Cold Steel. Cheaper version is definitely lower quality, but still cuts really well. If I could do it over, I'd probably choose 5 of those instead of 1 of these..
Great feeling knife that shipped with a sheath (the sheath looks to be a holdover/leftover for a diff blade). Knife is very sharp out of the box (great) and is balanced well. Able to hold the knife with multiple grips and the grip itself is good feeling and secure. Once I have put this to some actual outdoor use will update the review. So far, though, am happy with my purchase.
Its a sharp looking knife, keeps an edge well. Solid construction and high quality materials. Comes with a sheath, I love it. I have multiple fixed knives and this is one of my favorite.
This is very well made. It is about a foot long and pretty heavy. If you drop it, it will definitely stick in the ground or a stump easily with its weight. The handle has a textured rubber grip that feels very comfortable. There is no way it will slip out of your hands while in use for combat or gutting an animal. The steel blade is very strong and won't chip at all. It has a blade on the backside as well which is not very sharp compared to the front. Its more like a wedge than a blade I guess. I can see the back wedge useful if you were defending yourself from someone or something and want to strike them with force rather than stab or cut. It is good if you don't want to seriously injure or kill someone. It also has a very high quality sheath and the knife snaps in place so it won't fall out. I can say that it fits this knife better than any of my other knives with a sheath. This is a good knife for hunting or keeping in your truck. It's probably too heavy to take on a long distance backpacking hike. Maybe short hikes would be ok. Overall I'm very very satisfied with the knife.
kfergusonI took it to Waimanu Valley a couple months ago which is the most secluded part of Hawai'i and used it to cut coconut open and trim palm frawn a to help build my shelter. I used the bone crushing part to get through the inner shell of the coconut.
Very well made. You can feel its weight in you hand. Sharp on both edges. Can't wait to try it in next camping. Love the sheath since its nice looking and allow you to attach it whatever way you like. The locking mechanism is easy to pull the knife out, not the other way though. When putting the knife back for me it's a bit slow to press the button to lock it. I got another knife that use velcro at the same place. Can't say which one is better. The button will last longer than velcro for sure and more secure IMO. Velcro is easy to play with.
The question I have is what is the use of the "saw" edge in the middle of the knife spine? It has saw like edge on both side but not quite like a saw. Doesn't seem easy to use it to cut a rope or branch or anything. Thx.
Juni0rM1ntWhy give this knife a bad review on drop if UPS lost/stole your package? Seems a bit unfair since UPS is a third party to this website and the product. Did you ever receive a replacemen/refund?
