Looks like a great knife, but I'm not paying that kind of money for something Taiwan made.

Erik-the-Bike-ManCertainly your choice as a consumer to buy or not to buy something.
If the quality warrants the price, and I feel like I'm getting my money's worth, I don't care where it's made, really.
My experience with Taiwanese made knives from Spyderco has been exceptional, and from Cold Steel has been more than satisfactory. So I, myself, don't find the Taiwanese origin of this knife to be a negative.

Erik-the-Bike-ManAs someone who is strongly anti-Chinese, I understand your misgivings. However, there are multiple companies producing knives in Taiwan (which isn't China) to a very high standard of quality. This knife may indeed not be for you. However, for those who have wanted an assist open Cold Steel Demko model, this is the first time something like that has been available.

KnifeGuyCan you elaborate on why you are strongly anti-chinese? If quality is the reason, have you seen the offerings by Reate knives--some of the highest quality production folders on the market now and manufactured in PRC. Fit and finish and materials that are equal to or better than ZT in my opinon, and the same opinion is shared by most on bladeforums.
I like my usa made sebenza and ummnamzann, but when I compare them to the spyderco slyz, K2 or any of Reate offerings that I have, I can see that I'm paying $200 more for the USA sebenza primarily so that someone in idaho has a job and can live more comfortably. That's 200 out of my pocket when the product is marginally better (it is better, but not twice as good).

lobsterQuality has nothing to do with it. The Chinese aren't our friends economically or politically. They try to undermine us at every turn. Chinese entities steal IP from our businesses and their Government does nothing. Many Chinese knife companies/factories which are making quality products today, got their start by churning out counterfeits of American knives.

KnifeGuyWhy can't I let the ignorant just be... OK. It is Taiwan, not China. Taiwan is our friend. Before you get confused again, it is Taiwan, which is an very large island south of China, not Thailand. Thailand are also are friends, they are the ones that have such wonderful food. Besides other things, Taiwan has a few of the VERY BEST best Semi-conductor "Fabs" that many IC or "Chip" companies use. Without those fabs, ALL TECHNOLOGY would come to a screaming STOP. Even if you buy electronics that are "American Made", the guts of those real expensive fancy ICs on the circuit board were made in Taiwan. Taiwan cannot be avoided and many American companies would not exist without them. Our relationship with China requires more complicated.

KnifeGuyPeople like you are why I hate living in America. Our own Gov't fucks us, but China... now that's just too far. Maybe you should be more worried about making our own gov't honest first before you hold others to com imaginary standard.

KschwerinNo offense but if you keep an eye on world politics you will see that he is right and China purposely screws other contries over in their economic practices. He gave good reasons for him not liking Chinese goods. I like low prices so I do buy Chinase made products, but I'm not going to shoot someone down for not wanting to suport what they do.
