i just received my product yesterday 10-14-2016. This product is garbage. It barely works. It only plays a single folder at a time. For example, if you have multiple songs from a single artist, it will create a different folder for each artist and each album for that artist. If you only have 1 song from each album, every time you want to go to a different song, you have to physically go into the player and navigate with the buttons to the next artist or album. The player settings dont do anything to change this. All you can do is shuffle, repeat (one or all songs) in each folder. you cannot hit PLAY and just listen to your whole media player worth of songs because it wont automatically play any song that isnt in the same folder.
Its also old tech. My player came with a QC tag labeled from 2013. So basically these are products that were sitting in a warehouse for several years because they couldnt or wouldnt sell. Some one bought the lot of these and are selling them for $47 each. I have had $30 players in 2010 that had more usability than these. They are only over priced audio players. the display is VERY tiny and almost unreadable. It has clunky controls and not recommended to be a player in a car. Your phone will do a 10x better job than this machine.
Can anyone confirm if there's any way around these limitations? It seems a little ridiculous that you can't just shuffle all songs no matter what folder they're in...
All instructions in Chinese/Korean/Japanese (not sure) and the only thing the manufacturers website has about this product is a link to update firmware> When i clicked on link to download firmware, it was a dead link.
Maybe just put all of your music files into one folder. That's what I did with mine and it works great for me.
My unit arrived yesterday and it came with 10 pages English instruction in a folding pamphlet.
Interesting... but does it work? Can you sync your music to it and play every song? Thats my biggest complaint. This is advertised as a good quality "MEDIA" player. It is a music player with Win Xp technology on it. I have paid less for media players with FM radios and video playing ability. And those players worked right out of the box. Unfortunately, those players are now $100 or more because they are no longer made and they worked forever and are wearing out. Now they are being replaced by garbage or discontinued all together. My old players are getting worn out. I need replacements and this product will not do it for the price and technology. I didnt realize that until I tried getting it work after I was finally able to get music on it.
Yes that is a thought but why isnt this machine smart enough to play all music? You can get a cheapo mp3 player that will do it for $10 at some discount store but it will be cheap and wont last. I paid $50 (almost) for something I thought was sturdy, higher quality and useful. It isnt. Thats part of my issue.
My initial impression on this unit is the user interface is very simple and primitive but functional for simple operation therefore it wouldn't meet your expectations and requirements. The C3 is an entry level player and sonic performance is better than I expected. I couldn't find anything on how to sync in the instruction pamphlet. If you like I can email you the instructions in pdf format.
You are right, this could be an oversight, quite often a little more goes a long way or a longer way!
Just came across this and I thought you might be interested:
ac3698- Thank you for all the information. As I said, I didnt have a users manual with mine, and most of the functions are intuitive AFTER you figure out how the C3 works. It is possible mine is defective. And thanks for that article or picture for that info. But my whole issue with this player is unchanged, for $50, the player should be a bit better. And with the new info in that picture, it seems to confirm my suspicion that this is a very cheaply setup device with little, to no, chance to get any better. This is very disappointing even if it worked properly because it simply isnt worth $50...to me.
My other big issue is that I got this for a birthday gift for my wife. She can use media players at her work but she cannot keep her cellphone with her. They have to keep them off the main work floor. To turn on the player and let it play all day is the main purpose I bought this player. Since it wont do that naturally, or I have to strip out all song info from all the songs (besides the title) to place them on the machine undoes many hours of work I put into properly formatting the music into my PC. I am the one that fills her media players for her. SO on many levels, this player is no good for me or my wife. Massdrop has offered me a replacement which could take several weeks (their estimate) or immediately refund my money. I think I will go with the refund.
I am not impossible to please, I just expect my money's worth. Sometimes I still dont get what I pay for and I hope that the seller is willing to make it right. And Massdrop offered. With that, I am willing to give Massdrop another chance. This is not their fault but then again the C3 just became a drop this week...so that means someone else will probably having the same issue sooner or later.
I fully understand your issues with this player, its primitive interface simply does not meet your requirements and there is no sense to keep this unit around. I am a different type of user for most of the time I pick and choose songs individually and by performers, I rarely use random play or listen for a long period of time. I truly appreciate the sharing of your opinion with me and whoever reading your comments, I am sure your comments would definitely benefit interested buyers to gain further insight of this player prior to making a purchase decision. Best of luck in searching for a better player and it was a pleasure chatting with you.
It's all about the sound quality. Normally I store my tracks in this format: a folder for each artist, or category, or whatever, which contains folders for each album - and in the album folders, there are files (not folders) named by the name of that track. I just launch the first track and it plays the whole album. No problems whatsoever. I really see no point in creating a separate folder for each track, it's just useless work. If you want to create a pkaylist, just drag all the tracks into one folder, no subfolders. It's really pretty easy. Buy this if you need good audio quality. If you think yor phone is good enough, then why bother with buying anything at all if you can just download a different music app with different library management...
That's because the shitty players you're talking about are no better than your smartphone. So just grab your smartphone and use it. This one is for quality. For audiophiles. You're clearly not an audiophile so don't buy it.
I don't understand what you're saying here. You're claiming it "doesn't work" even though it clearly is working. I think you're just acting like a big baby because you have to adapt slightly to it, instead of baby getting his way like he's used to.
You should have done your homework. I knew all about the "issues" you're having before ordering mine. So, *I* will receive a cheap, great sounding mp3/flac player, while you got "old tech" that "doesn't work", because you failed to read up beforehand and thus had unrealistic expectations. Amazing difference, that.
When you read all over the internet that this is being sold elsewhere from $90 to $140 and it is an "amazing product", you hope to get something that actually works the way a similar product works. If you had managed to read into the comments a little more, you would see that others found "ISSUES" with this product and those issues were common and expected out of a product with weak programming. So obviously you only made that comment to stroke your own ego or your ID says it all.
But there is a possibility my product was defective. So with that, I am going to leave it right here and anymore comments on this are going to be ignored. I am returning this and that will be the end of it.
