DetexMy thoughts when I saw this. Looks like a nice pan, has nice aesthetics. Obviously not for the oven.

namhodyeah, i am not a fan of the contour of the sides either. Great looking, not sure how the function would be...

DetexYa, the design looks like it would make cleaning harder. It is nice to see some higher end cast iron in here. I have never heard of this brand. It would also be good to see some pictures of the finish. I would be sad paying this much for a pan that had the same level of finish as a $20 Lodge.

namhodYeah, it is a tough thing for me to spend up for given that Lodge pots are pretty damn good. With that said, the wife and I got a beautiful La Crueset set for our wedding a few years ago and it is an absolute joy to cook on. It is enamel on the bottom of the pan which makes it super easy to shake back and forth on the burner and the heat transfer is fantastic. It is however not really any better than the Lodge on a functional level, it is a lot better looking.. i have a feeling this pan is much the same, aesthetically it is wonderful but functionally i am not sure you will see a difference and really, the wood handle may be a big downside if you plan to use it in the oven.

DetexLe Crueset? Me and my with refer to the couple that we have as our "Fine ass French crockery." We don't have any of their cast iron, just backing dishes.

namhodhaha, darn autocorrect. Yes, La Crueset. It is nice stuff but the Dutch oven I bought at Ikea functions just as well as our La Crueset, again, just not as pretty. For a while i was buying a ton of old french enamelware from Goodwill, it is getting harder to come across but if you search you can find some good stuff. Now my wife loves it but in the beginning she didn't understand why I needed so many cast iron pieces in a small NYC apartment kitchen. (she never complained when I made her elaborate dinners, so there's that.)
