scoopbbThe geometry of the bottom. Lodge's have very rounded bottoms with little surface are and it's hard to brown multiple pieces of meat while these look like they have a flatter bottom with a big surface area (more similar to a Le Creuset). If that matters to you, the Lodge really isn't as good. If it doesn't, the Lodge is an excellent dutch oven. Had mine for a few years now, it's held up wonderfully.

js1987I own 2 lodge dutch ovens, non-enameled, and don't have a very rounded bottom, but it looks like the enameled is rounder. The products are technically different as I got an enameled one as a gift and the enameling is done in China, while the core cast iron is made in america. According to a The SweetHome http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-dutch-oven/ they preferred the roundness.

AkkumaYeah your mileage may vary. I bought based on that review amd it just isn't perfect for my uses, especially when compared to a Le Creuset. Even in that review they note towards the bottom that the only real knock on the Lodge is the smaller cooking surface due to the rounded bottom.
