The keyboard in combination with the tips and tricks on https://docs.qmk.fm/#/ make this quite a fun and easy to set up product. However, I would've liked it if this site had directly been linked somewhere from the main product=page for at least the Linux users since the kbflasher sources weren't all that useful. The software is something I might still try out in Windows but I couldn't get it to work on Linux with some extra tweaks and Wine. I've also tried to use the cloud app however that did not really seem to work. I kept receiving this error: "The page has expired due to inactivity. Please refresh and try again." when I tried to login. Despite this, I'm looking forward to playing around with this a bit more.
Garbage, requires to sign up for cloud service to program the keyboard. This keyboard can't be programmed without internet connectivity and signing up for their bullshit.
Xander88If you don't want to signup to save your keymaps, you can also use this opensource tool here:
https://config.qmk.fm/#/knops/mini/LAYOUT
We don't manage this tool, but works as expected. The reason we made a cloud based tool is that we have to compile the firmware of the keyboard for each new keymap. There are quite a few dependencies (based on QMK), so we can't expect anyone to set this up on their local machine or expect an installer to setup everyones computer to do so automatically. Our solution was to come up with this cloudtool, but there is indeed some space left for improvement. I will take your suggestion with me for a next version where it is also possible to make a keymap without an account. I am not certain when such update will be available though. However, the QMK configurator linked above does everything you expect it to.
I was not able to compile the Linux software on Ubuntu 18.04, so I haven't been able to try it. Any help would be appreciated. Product quality and design looks good.
MrSpock314Thank you for your kind feedback. Best solution for now is to use a windows machine + app.knops.io . The other solution that works with Linux is to use the QMK configurator (https://config.qmk.fm/#/knops/mini/LAYOUT) with a flasher like avrdude.
If you want further support for the linux compilation error, please contact me at support@alltrons.com and I look forward to helping you.
it asked me for admin permissions for cmd when i flashing a new keymap using app.knops.io . this is ridicolous, for all I know i just installed spyware
ShurasikThe cmd that was executed can be found in this folder:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Knops\app-1.0.3\resources\app\assets\drivers\ . This software comes directly from the QMK firmware repo at github and does not contain any spyware. It's solely meant to configure the right usb driver for the device.
I originally requested this drop, but should have researched the price point more carefully.
At 35$ this does not strike me as a great value.
Build is an underwhelming plastic bevel, and you only get 6 keys and one LED color.
Ended up going with a YMDK 'Macro Pad'.
It has 23 keys, you can chose a wider variety of switches and LED colors, and its got a nicer aesthetic.
Price point is similar, though it doesn't provide key caps. But many people have extras around I would think.
(just my 10 cents)
AyatoIf there are no problems with the manufacturing process, they could come early. Last time there were some problems, so there is no guarantee other than the date you mentioned.
