Yeah, but did anyone look at how many people voted for this thing on the poll? More than 130 people voted for this thing over 750 and 550w power supplies. Both of which are gold rated I might add. Massdrop is founded on the concept that people will vote for something, and then a decent percentage of them will buy it. What happened to that 132 people? I would figure that at least 20 people would want to buy the product they voted for. Right?

jgilesI would figure the same. Seeing the status of this drop before its closure saddens me. Zero purchases but five committed to the lowest price. I think the voting is potentially broken; I've noticed that a lot of votes get dumped into whatever item is listed first, or whatever item happens to have the most votes at the time, rather than people actually considering the candidates in terms of quality, value, etc.

I hope no one takes these people claiming they use 1200w as if it's some common thing seriously, I doubt they've actually tested their draw from the wall. Even if it were true that one of you does peak 1200w D/C, there are plenty of reasons for the majority to not invest in this, hence why there's 5-ish people pledged.
That Linus comment makes me laugh, don't fool yourself into thinking you know something more than someone else out of jealousy and spite. It's unwise to support your premises with ad hominem fallacies. There are a number of reasons so many people watch Linus, he's not completely inept just because he gets excited about the privileges he now has.

get off your high horse. All I did was offer better solutions for people that would be interested in this. I know people who game, and people who do neither that use these power supplies... They are just solid power supplies. If you don't need that many watts and never will, don't get it, I dont care, I sure as hell didnt commit to this drop...

sturokThat's all you did? "And if you are listening to what linus says you need your head checked. hes a pompous douche he did a review of 2 decaocta cores recently and his doucheyness just pours out of the screen As far as PSUs that are currently the best. I think Antec High Current Pro 1300W would edge this out. and its 250 on amazon with free shipping..."
Sounds to me like you're the one on a high horse, it's pretty clear that it's unecessary whether you know people who use them or not. If you don't care then why are you posting nonsense about how much you apparently dislike Linus? Sounds like by your conclusion no one should listen to you either.

Who manufactures this PSU? Is it a rebrand I mean. Also, 1200 watts seems like a lot (and I'd like to see a titanium rating), but if you're running 600-800 watts of hardware, your efficiency will be higher than if you're trying to run like an 850 watt psu.

rggbIt is a Seasonic rebrand, and according to http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/CoolerMaster/V1200/, it was an editor's choice.

As some who uses this much wattage, there are other options. I love my g2 1300watt super novas, I have not heard a bad thing yet. 150 a piece I use 2 at a time when I LN2 or OC my SLI KPE cards and my 5960X LOTS of wattage. And if you are listening to what linus says you need your head checked. hes a pompous douche he did a review of 2 decaocta cores recently and his doucheyness just pours out of the screen As far as PSUs that are currently the best. I think Antec High Current Pro 1300W would edge this out. and its 250 on amazon with free shipping...

80 Plus Platinum is great and all but 1200W?? I'd say most systems, even enthusiast grade systems, do not need this kind of power. Especially when CPUs / GPUs these days take so little power to run.

PacwageoYou do know that there are desktop CPU's which actually need 140W? That's just the Intel extreme, but then there are those who usually run quad-SLI and quad-fire. Depending on what top of the line card you have that alone is 1000W-1200W. That is on stock, factory spec.
All X77/X99 CPU's have a TDP in excess of 100W iirc(130W-140W, some xeons hit 160W and there are some who use Xeons at home) i thought, which are more performance, not extreme setups really. You could easily use a 1200W unit, if you know that you may have more gear at higher performance (usually involves moar wattage). A good unit with higher wattage is just as efficient as a unit with smaller wattage in a certain operating range iirc., so why not if you have any designs on future?
If someone's actually looking for this particular unit, this may be a good deal for someone. I think, if it hits 240 then it would be $20 or so cheaper than other deals, and right now it is $10 or so cheaper than anywhere else.
If i were looking for a unit right now, i would rather get a EVGA i saw for cheaper on newegg sometime ago, with more wattage, but that's just me. http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=85573&promoid=1395&gclid=Cj0KEQjw-OCqBRDXmIWvveLE3_cBEiQAZWfImaBEFZSMjAAhRN6lJU47DkgPcbNQXriw6fdAQwi_KQEaAksx8P8HAQ

If one wants a platinum certified one... http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1200-P2-Power-Supply/9168744/product.html?refccid=45VS3AKAZVYLMB2E3WPQC6MRYU&searchidx=3
Amazon has got it for $232
7 years is plenty, but EVGA offers 10 years warranty on either of the units mentioned above.

How many will you run of a PSU which could do about 2000W? There's one, look it up :)

I didn't mean to start a cat fight over this product by saying what I did. I find it greatly annoying that when I find something I want on Massdrop, people start trying to sabotage it by saying what they should have dropped instead. Or how much better of a price they're getting somewhere else on the 80PLUS bronze version (not the same thing, but close enough for their tastes). If you don't want it, don't buy it. Don't start making a fuss. There are plenty of people on Massdrop who will get behind your desired product. Just be patient.
I will echo the opinion that I'm glad to see, both, that pc components are being offered, and that the producer of this product is being active in the discussion. This shows that there are tight relationships being forged between manufacturers and Massdrop, and that can get us better deals. More than anything, I want to see these relationships flourish.
Additionally, I don't think anyone is trying to guilt trip anyone because of their motives for buying this beast of a PSU. We may not understand your reasons, but you are spending your own money. Regardless if you just want the WOW factor of having 1200 watts at your command, or you have an overclocked 16 core processor with the best graphics cards you can find also overclocked and in quad-SLI. It's your money, and your decision.
Finally, thank you Massdrop for making this drop available. I would prefer to see something in a lower power bracket so I could get more useful power (within my requirements) for my money. But, thanks just the same.
