These things are louder than I ever could’ve imagined. Ran it at ~1100rpm on a rad and I could hear it through closed-backed headphones! Lowered it to 900rpm and were still unbearable.
It wasn’t a subtle ‘whir’ either, it was a loud, constant, low-pitched hum. It was louder, at its lowest speed, than any other OEM fan that I had at its highest speed.
I got an NF-120 and forgave the RGB. Best decision I’ve made in a while, it keeps my temps the same with its L.N.A., while literally being inaudable under my desk
Hey I just wanted to pass a warning along, the masterfans have known coil wine issues at high RPMs. I Purchased two of the 120mm fans from newegg about 5 months ago to cool a 240mm radiator. They ended up being some of the worst fans i have ever purchased. The lights look and work very nice and the fans run fine at low RPMs. That said at about 50% percent fan speed I started to hear a terrible coil wine. I did some digging on newegg and amazon and found I was not alone. I am an avid cooler master fanboy. ever since the HAF series cases I have purchased exclusively coolermatser cases and cooling solutions, because i liked their look, utility, and they just plain worked good. These fans have been my most disappointing purchase from coolermaster. The masterfan series and the stupid Mastercase H500P are prime examples of products designed to be easy marketable, but preform like garbage. Please do you research before you buy like with any product.
Also I don't want to simply bash a company I truly love and just walk away, so if CoolerMaster has acknowledged the issues with these products and can assure you that they are no longer present in this production run then by all means purchase these.
lol I love their logo. It's all like "Did you think you saw the corsair sail? WRONG! we are a horse!" but hey if they work they work.

PookhaHahaha, believe it or not it was actually worse :) I've now used these in two different builds, and they are holding up well a few months on. I really love their RGB controller, it's not dependent on software or motherboard control. It uses one of those cheapie card remotes. The remote has limited range, but works great. The hub they include can handle up to six fans as well as two RGB LED strips(both of which only cost 8 bucks...!). Downside is no fan speed control, but thankfully they are pretty quiet at full speed so it's not much of an issue. All told, for only $36.00 including three fans and the controller, it's a steal, or at least worth a try.
FizbanIt’s my understanding that the included controller can take care of that. Just need a SATA power connector from your power supply and a free USB 2.0 header on your motherboard. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong.
