I got my replacement today. Firstly, props to Copper River for sending me a return shipping label for the wrong-sized bag when I didn't even ask for it nor know that anything was wrong. They could have done what a lot of other companies would do and hope no one noticed, sending replacements privately as people requested them. They fixed this the right way which I'm sure cost them a lot of time and money to do.

Sadly, my 15" replacement just doesn't have the same quality that the 14" bag had. The leather is really thin at some points and parts of the inside of the bag are badly frayed (see the photo below). I assume this quality of leather must be considered okay by Copper River (or why else would they let it ship). Parts of bag feel really durable while other parts, like the side shown in the photo, feel really cheap, like I could use my finger to rub a hole right through it.

I don't think I'll look into getting a replacement because at this point I'm just sick of being without a bag. Hopefully this bag holds up to wear and tear over the years.

I received mine Saturday. The bag is okay, but it suffers from some design issues. The inner pocket is not quite big enough for a notebook (the paper kind), the side pockets are a bit tight, and the strap is too long and somewhat uncomfortable, although the fasteners are metal and very solid, and they're on swivels to prevent the strap from getting twisted up. The strap is most certainly not worth whatever ridiculous price they were asking for it separately and I wouldn't have bothered had it not been included. The secondary snaps are difficult to make fasten, since there's not necessarily a solid surface underneath them, and there's no place to put your finger, like there is in the middle snap. Buckles would have been better, for sure. But it is a leather bag and seems solid and durable overall. I will be filing off the copper river logo, since after this experience, the last thing I want to do is to have paid for something that will also serve as free advertising for them. The bag is fine, and it is constructed well enough to last, but it was not worth the wait of close to two months or having to deal with the assorted failures of customer service.

Also, their insistence on using "hand craft" every time a normal person would say "create," "make," or "assemble" is grating, pretentious, and extremely annoying. It reminds me a bit of a waiter who once asked me if I was finished "enjoying" my meal. Yes, the food no longer brings me pleasure. Please take it from the table. A silly use of language in my opinion, and it does nothing for their credibility.

All in all, I'm glad that this is over.

jeremycJeremy, how do you plan on removing the logo? it is also something I want to do but not sure the best way to go about it without messing up the bag. I have a general aversion to logo'd merchandise

arueschhoffI was just going to sand it off, with either some medium-fine grade sandpaper or some steel wool, and then apply some oil or conditioner so that it doesn't look too bad. I'm not all that concerned with how it looks, though. :) Since it's an extra piece of leather that's just riveted on to cover up where the middle ring is attached, it's non-essential, so if I ruined it, no big deal.

So I sent Massdrop an email 3 days ago now and they still haven't deigned to reply. Honestly, Copper River's isn't the only poor customer support here. When can I expect to actually receive my bag that I now ordered nearly two months ago?
EDIT: Got a reply within an hour of my second e-mail, honest mistake from Massdrop, all is well, thanks!

I've finally heard from Copper River. Apparently, they start making the replacement bag when they receive the return, which is not something I'm exactly happy about, but it would have been nice if this had been better explained. The significant delay in getting the return labels did not help, either.

I thought I would post this here in case anyone else was, like me, wondering what was taking so long. I will be glad when this is over.

Just an head's up for everyone still following along, I finally received my replacement bag on Friday. Despite all the claims that it doesn't happen anymore, the brown rubbed off on my pants.

arueschhoffThe only thing surprising about your post is that a bag actually arrived for someone.

arueschhoff@arueschhoff that happened with my brown bag on the first use as well, and has not happened since.

I would like a tracking number. I haven't seen any real evidence of any effort on Copper River's part other than finally coming back and updating everyone after weeks of total silence. Too little, too late. Unless my bag is literally in transit, I want a refund.
Quick update to all you Massdrop customers that have received the brown 14" bags.

We have currently received 7 bags in return and have shipped 4 out already. We will be shipping these other 3 bags out by Monday. We look forward to receiving the other 7 bags so that we may trade them out for the correct size.

Feel free to contact us...
Copper River Bag CP

What about us people that never even received the incorrect bag? I paid for this over a month ago now and still have no idea when I can hope to receive it. Although, if it makes it easier, I personally wouldn't mind one of the 14 inch bags as I have no need for the extra space, if it would mean that I would recieve it sooner. I am in the UK by the way. Also, would it be possible for me to change the shipping address as the one that I gave over a month ago is no longer convenient for me?
