BrainFlushI ended up opting for the real deal and went with a 55G Realforce, likely be ordering a HHKB Or Leopold FC660C soon to accompany it. The mx stem compatability was nice but the realforce build quality and stock caps are just unbeatable.

LiquidEvilGamingAnd that's on you. I've said it numerous times I can't justify the price for real Topre when RK gives you LED, MX stems and silenced bands. But we are all different.

BrainFlushDifferent strokes for different folks for sure but the only valid point i see is the MX stems. LED is really nothing but a gaudy novelty as anyone spending beyond 50 bucks on a keyboard likely can touch type or is in a well lit room to begin with anyway. As far as price what exactly is so expensive about it?
RF 55G Comes with some of the best caps on the market both PBT with excellent feel and Dyesub and a 2 year warranty from EK.com
RC930 109$ But has trash caps and goodluck getting any sort of warranty support should you need it,which for a board with parts near impossible to find replacements for is sort of important IMO. But even the caps alone you are going to be paying a minimal of 60$ for mid range DyeSub PBT caps bringing your price now to 169.99$ with no warranty. So really it's only a 35$ premium for the Real Topre sound and feel TBH.
I totally get and understand the requirement or desire of MX stems for some people and if that makes it worth it to you i get it totally do!
But Real Topre really isn't "Overpriced" Given the compared build quality/Warranty from a well known distributor and stock caps that even a remote closeness in quality is going to cost 60+$ for...I guess i don't really consider it that expensive when looking at the entire picture.
Now Topre boards like the 300$ HHKB Type-S? Entire other matter and that's just insane :p

LiquidEvilGamingAs to the LED, I see no reason to not have it, it can always be turned off. I myself type in complete darkness excluding the monitors. The LEDs are for seeing my way to my desk and for typing since I suck at it. As to the caps, honestly the 2nd gen ones are damn thick and sound really good. Sure they look ugly to some. Granted I still replaced them. For the warranty, yeah, not a deal breaker since the worst thing to happen so far is a LED went out on a few peoples boards, but since they bought here, MD took care of it, which is the entire point of MD. And it comes pre-silenced making it sound damn nice.
I agree with your points, I just again myself can't justify a real Topre over the RK ever.
People make Topre artisan caps but not as much as MX. It's a numbers game. I am at the point now where I won't even buy an artisan unless it is LED compatible. I use my LED and want to see my caps glow.

BrainFlushTotally fair points, if everyone thought the same we would likely only see things like Razer keyboards on the market.....Scary to even think about.
Cheers! =)
