The Corum Admiral is instantly recognizable thanks to its 12-sided case. For more than 50 years it’s been a staple of the Corum collection, and the version offered here has a decidedly nautical theme. The first thing you’ll notice is the real wood dial, which looks like something yanked off the deck of a ship. Also ship-related are the indices, which are made up of numerical signal flags. Each hour marker conforms to the International Code of Signals—a clever way to incorporate the nautical theme, and a nice conversation piece. The hands are skeletonized so as not to detract attention from the wood-paneled dial. Corum’s own CO082 21-jewel movement produces a 42-hour power reserve. Finally, the watch is set under a sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 100 meters.
