In terms of use this is something you drag along the ground(the spikes were specifically designed at those angles to do so) and isn't something you want to throw high in the air(as one would naturally imagine how a grappling hook is used), especially with the spikes attached. If you threw this thing into a tree with the spikes on and got it caught on a branch, have fun trying to get it out without it ending up stuck in your skull.
If you need a legitimate use for this other than setting off IEDs, it'd be good for fetching something you dropped out of reach, like keys or a hat.
