One thing I would be concerned about in purchasing this player is the external memory capacity. It says it will take a card up to 256 GB. First of all for player of this price that alone is insufficient. However I don't even think it takes that much. I have the Cowon Plenue R. the cheaper version of this one. It also advertises itself as taking a 256 GB card. It's not true using those cards is hit and miss. I tried all kinds of 256 GB cards with my machine before I finally tried contacting Cowon they were completely unresponsive. So then I contacted the seller they did get back to me and told me to use a smaller gigabyte card. So I went to a 128 GB card. It works perfectly. Now I know the L is a newer model but I would be very suspicious. And again 256 GB is not enough memory capacity for this type of price. I've been looking at the FiiO M11 https://www.themasterswitch.com/best-digital-audio-players. Right now this looks like it might be the best way to go. I do really like the Cowon R as far as sound goes. The sound is absolutely amazing. It even makes your MP3s sound great. The battery life is also really good on this machine. So I assume the L would be even better in all these respects. However the software interface leaves a lot to be desired. The screen is way to touch sensitive so you wind up switching tracks even when you don't want to. You're listening to a particular album and all of a sudden your screen will just switch for no particular reason to something totally different. If you read the reviews you'll see other people have had the same experience. It is definitely a glitch in the firmware but they seem to have no interest in fixing it. It has 128 GB of onboard memory which is great. But the external memory has to be a lot more than 128 GB that's a real weak spot. And it cost me a lot of money to figure it out because they advertise this as 256 GB. So for the price I think it's a nice player but I would be very reluctant to pay the kind of money they're asking for the L especially considering the specs of the M11 seem to match and in some cases are better.

raymondehayes1Wait until the M11 Pro, coming out soon. https://avprogear.com/fiio-m11-pro-portable-dap-specs-price-release-date/ it will have a better dac specs and sound. Also, two microSD card slots up to 4TB total space. That's a lot of music to carry around. Price is around $700 I think.
