I try to find value in all of the listings Drop provides regardless of my interest. But there are some doozies littered over time. This listing is not totally off but the simplistic nature of the tray lends to price to value questions. For me, I am not crazy about this listing because it reminds me of some 1970s trays my parents used on their dresser.. and I can’t say that I ever thought quality nor did I care for them ( the trays not my parents. Lol ) When I look at this listing a second time, I see something I can find at a hobby store and stain the color I chose, for a fraction of the listing price and probably like much more. But that’s me. We each find value in items listed in our own special way! 😀
I forgot to add.. for some reason I keep coming back to look at this listing.. that.. I cannot figure out why!
Classy design, but... $5 worth of wood, selling for $65, and it's not even a solid piece? Or at the very least, couldn't you have used book-matched boards?
I'd like it, if it were a bit larger in size, and a LOT lower in price
KavikWhere did you see that the item is "not solid"? What you are essentially claiming is that it is veneered. If so, I agree on the price and quality. If by "solid wood" you mean it's not a huge chunk of walnut or maple, then of course it's not. What function would a "solid" block of wood serve on your nighstand?
KestrelXNot saying it's not sold wood, just saying it's a glue up of two boards instead of one continuous piece (you can easily see the seam in the pictures of the walnut board)
That, in and of itself, isn't an issue. I was only saying that if they're asking crazy money for this, i think they could've
a) made it from one continuous board, which would carry a higher intrinsic value, as wider walnut boards are harder to come by, and therefore more expensive to obtain
Or
b) at least use bookmatched boards, for better aesthetics. Again, this would help justify the cost and have a nicer looking end product, in my opinion
NICE work. Elegant and minimalist, showing good craftmanship. Way too expensive tho. With these prices you're gonna end up having QAnon people accusing you of smuggling children in wooden trays or something.
Stuff like this is for someone to advertise buying power. Not saying there's no place for that, but it's only something to do if you're made of money and want ppl to know that. Everyone else repurposes some other low cost item or upcycles something and IMO they end up with something cooler.
I think if y'all want to sell a bunch of these you want to prolly be at about half this price. YMMV tho
I wish I made enough to spend this much on a wooden tray.
No, this isn't an invitation to tell me about your mlm / "business opportunity" or "instructional course"
LOL, I like the sarcasm. I'd keep my janky looking original to myself and maybe make a couple nicer ones to give to family and friends. Maybe I'd put some flocking on the bottom so it wouldn't scratch. Dang I'm thinking about this too much. I could also just get some leather scraps from Hobby lobby and in 20 minutes have leather coin dish
